“If skiing its fine.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

Good location for the main lift. Modern 3 Star Hotel for the young. Bathrooms are designed for athletic newts, not humans. Small outdoor pool heated to bath temperature. Good if skiing, as little time needs to be spent in hotel. Shuttle service to airport and staff very good.

The perfect apres ski location in Aspen. With a blend of textures and outdoorsy elements, the understated elegance of the lobby and bar plus the friendly staff, make this a great place to mingle right off the slopes. The outdoors hot pool area with pitted fires and lounging modules make it the perfect place to sip champagne after a hard day's night.

The Hotel is in a perfect location, within a block or two of the grocery store, several restaurants, and is really right off the ski slope. While in the pool area, you look up to the slopes! The staff was pleasant and accommodating, despite being very busy with a full house. The waitstaff from the bar came to the poolside regularly for drink and food orders, all of which was very good and fairly priced for Aspen. The rooms are tight quarters, but tastefully done and clean. The sliding doors to the balcony were great considering this weekend was the most perfect fall weather. We forgot 2 handheld video games (expensive ones), games, and watch, and other things in a drawer. The management went out of their way to get it all back to us in a timely fashion. This, ultimately, is my reason for the 5 stars.

Room Tip: The top floors are preferred for the elevated balconies.

The Sky Hotel is right next to the main chair lift in Aspen. It was by far the most economical option in the nearby area, but did not feel like a discount hotel. It has a funky modern feel and a very cool outdoor pool and fireplace lined bar.

The rooms are a bit cramped but have a trendy design. The hotel had other quirky things like a welcome board for all the dogs who were staying.

This was an outstanding find. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we found the room to be clean and comfortable. The hotel bar/restaurant was nice with good appetizers. The pool and hot tub were nice as well. The pool, lobby, and rooms are small but space is limited in aspen. The only reason this hotel did not get 5 stars from me was the noise at night. Though updated, the hotel is old, and we were woken up throughout the night by people walking down the hall and closing their doors. Other than that a great place, I would stay at the Sky again for sure.

Our son and his family as well as my husband & I and 3 dogs between all of us were in Aspen for one of the most beautiful fall weekends possible. We loved our rooms and the close proximity to a park and trails to walk the dogs on. Management was beyond friendly and helpful.

The pool and hot tub are beautiful. We had dinner and drinks in the cocktail lounge and we shocked at how good our meals were. In addition there were many people at the lounge on Friday night so it was a fun place to visit.

We will book our rooms several months ahead for next year's gymnastic meet weekend.

My wife and I stayed at the Sky 10/17 through 10/20, and had an amazing time. The location can't be beat - just steps away from downtown and the lifts. The staff offered and would have driven us anywhere we wanted to go, but we were in walking distance of everywhere we cared to visit and didn't have to use the shuttle.

Now it was off season, and so I can't say what it's like during the ski season, but I felt as though we received exceptional value. The nightly wine tastings were a blast, and one day the hotel let us use their bikes and we had a great time riding around the numerous bike paths throughout the city, looking at the sites.

As for noise complaints, there was a youth hockey tournament going on in the city, and one or more teams staying at the hotel. I expected the worst, but can honestly say that we didn't even hear them in our room - it was very quiet and enjoyable.

The room was a little small - but hey, you don't go to Aspen to hang out in the room!! We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The higher the better.
