“Nicer than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2010

I stayed here for one night after staying 7 nights in a condo. I was quite pleased with the room size, the plush, comfortable bedding, in-room gas fireplace, fine quality toiletries, free apres-ski spread of food, wine and beer, free expanded continental breakfast, etc.

One thing that I was unaware of is that the rooms are in separate little buildings with stairs. It's not like a typical hotel with elevators in the lobby and hallways that lead to the rooms. Although I had to lug my own luggage to the room and up the stairs (no bellman was around)— overall it was a very pleasant one-night stay.

Great location, fine staff, clean rooms, terrific breakfast, friendly atmosphere, never heard another soul at night, we enjoyed every moment spent there, as for value for your money, it's the best bargain in the Rockies! Been there before, will come back again.

Their website and pictures are the only nice things about this hotel. Walls are paper-thing so you will be sharing vividly every night experience of night owl guests who are many because it is affordable compared with others in the city. For us this meant NO SLEEP for four straight days

Service is faire but again there are many things that dont work, that we cannot recommend this hotel to anybody...among them the heat...DURING WINTER TIME.

This was my first trip to Aspen & I couldn't have stayed at a better hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a room with a fireplace and it was great to warm up to after a long day of snowboarding. Though we had rented a car, there was no need for one. The hotel is very close to the main shopping & dining area of the city. I highly recommend staying here, whether it be your 1st trip to Aspen or you 50th.

As a trusted user of Tripadvisor, this hotel did not disappoint! In fact, i can't say enough good things about the Hotel Aspen - from the free hotel shuttle, to the AMAZING/FRIENDLY staff, delicious breakfast (eggs, waffles, cereal) /apres ski snacks (cheese, crackers, veggies, chili, wine, beer) and short walk to town.
And did I mention how incredible it is to take a swim while its snowing??
By far the best value in Aspen - the rooms are very spacious (3 girls, 6 pieces of luggage), with en-suite mini kitchen for storing drinks and snacks.
I also travel a lot for work/pleasure and have to admit that the hotel staff can make or break my experience. The airline lost my friend's luggage and the hotel staff tracked it and picked it up at the airport. We needed more hangers - 15 were delivered to our room in a matter of minutes. Extra towels, no problem (and we didn't have to ask after that first time- we had 6 fresh towels delivered daily)! Dropping ski gear at the post office to ship home - done!
Stay here - you will love it! I'm already planning my next trip in March.

Also recommended in Aspen: T-Lazy-7 Ranch for snowmobiling at the Maroon Bells, burger & truffle fries at Ajax Tavern (this cannot be missed), and dining at the bars of Cache Cache, Campo di Fiore and Ellina.
Woody Creek Tavern is also great for a group.

I have stayed at Hotel Aspen many times with family and friends. Hotel renovations are great, very comfortable beds, flat screen tvs, and awesome views of the mountain. The staff is very friendly and happy to help with anything. The breakfast in the morning and happy hour after a long day of skiing is such a great added bonus. Would recommend the hotel to anyone whether staying with kids, family or friends!
