“Great Stay in Aspen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2014

Found this hotel thru the information center in the center of town. Luckily we were traveling during the week after Labor Day. The rate was reasonable and the hotel was extremely comfortable and inviting. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub at night as well as the delicious full breakfast. Other perks include down comforters, central location and general cozy atmosphere, particularly in the breakfast room/ bar area. We actually stayed an additional night that we did not plan on. The rooms were clean and overall we had an excellent experience at the Hotel Lenado.

BEWARE of this hotel an its strict cancellation policy! They are not accommodating even though they received ample cancellation notice (almost 3wks). They will even keep your money if they have rented your cancelled room. I even asked that them to meet me 1/2 way with the charges and they would not comply with that either. I then asked if i could have my room since they are "double dipping" in the income of that particular room. They would not accommodate that either. I read reviews all the time prior to spending my hard earned dollars when traveling. This seemed like a lovely hotel, but now I feel strong enough to take the time to warn others of this hotel. There are many other hotels in the general vicinity that would love your business. Hotels.com worked with me on a refund due to the amount of business that i do with them. I highly recommend hotels.com

Room Tip: Any other hotel in Aspen would be advised!

We stayed in the hotel for one night. Based on some of the other travellers we spoke with, some folks seem to stay here for multiple weeks at a time. They must be doing something well.

The staff were uniformily helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed the bartender's service for a pleasant happy hour drink on the veranda. Later the hotel had a power outage (not their fault, half the downtown was knocked out when a contractor severed a cable), the staff made a large fire and guests sat in the mail area chatting and having cocktails.

The room was quite comfortible with a generous bathroom and large wardrobe cabinet. We were not able to book a king bed. Not sure of that was supply or not available at all. The room also had a small outdoor balcony.

The breakfast was great. Plenty of selection and freshly made. Quite leisurely however ( 1 hr ) so not a great choice if you're rushed.

Parking is very limited. If you have to park on the street, only certain areas allow overnight parking. Ask the staff or read the signs carefully.

The one main problem, and it's a big one, outside noise! The window mounted A/C unit is surrounded by a plastic trim kit. Basically it was as if the window was open. FYI - we were in Room 9. I discovered the buses (several routes travel pass the front of the hotel) run until after 2 am. The street sweepers came out around 3:30 am. Landscaping in the nearby park started at 7 am as did the construction across the street. One of the noisiest nights I've ever had in a hotel room. Window was closed BTW.

So great staff, nice breakfast, good location but unless the A/C units are out for winter make sure you get a room on the North or east sides.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face South Aspen Street.

We decided last minute to spend the week-end in Aspen. We were very lucky to get a room at Hotel Lenado using this website. A great deal at $199 a night. It is perfectly located very close to all the Aspen action. The room was small but comfortable and very clean. The staff was courteous and helpful. We enjoyed two wonderful breakfasts that were included in our very reasonable rate. There are many breakfast choices and they are all well prepared.
I loved the blueberry pancakes as well as an omelet fixed to order. We are disappointed that they are closing soon, because we would love to return.

Room Tip: Don't miss the great breakfast. Go early or late for a table if hotel is full and leave time to...

Recenty stayed 3 nights for $400 per night, and while I know Aspen is expensive, there was nothing special about this hotel. It appeared that our room was not vacummed each day and when we reported a drain problem with the sink, it was never addressed. The highly touted breakfast is just not that. The service was slow and each morning we heard excuses that "everyone showed up at the same time and I only have 2 burners to cook on." In addition, we were charged a $3 pp gratuity for the breakfast...never had that happen before! One day ordered a capuccino which is on the menu, but they said they were too busy to make it! There was no effort to take your order according to when you sat down so we had to ask to place our order.

I've done many hotel reviews worldwide but hotel Lenado is tops. Very friendly front desk, even helped us check in early. The boutique hotel has a very warm and friendly lobby with a library to use. Our room was impeccable even with some extras you wouldn't find elsewhere. Late afternoon had snacks and a open bar. The front desk people were very informative about the Aspen area. The morning breakfast blew us away with cooked to order anything..........eggs, omelets, pancakes........all served by table service. The only disappointment was finding out they will be closing September 1, 2014.

A great example of using Tripadvisor to help select our lodging for our first trip to Aspen. Great staff, especially in the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Walking distance to the shops/restaurants/taverns in Aspen. We kicked back on our balcony with a bottle of wine and looked up at the mountains. Great location in Aspen without the "posing."

Would return here in a heartbeat for our next trip.
