We went over Independence Pass from Twin Lakes & vice versa on Tuesday June 4th. A lot of snow everywhere! At the top of the pass, I took photos of the snow bank over 6" tall at the walkway to the scenic lookout. The path to the lookout is covered in snow & was unable to see the path itself. The small ponds that are present on top are frozen over still! Great time to take photos of the Roaring Forks river with snow still on the banks. The temperature on top was low 40's however, on the way back over to Twin Lakes, we did get snow on top for a short while. Even my wife who is seriously scared of heights loves the scenery so much she puts up with the scary-to-her drive (no guardrails at some points & some very narrow roads on Aspen side) in order to take in the amazing splendor that is this drive. Colorado at its finest.
