We had the pleasure of dining at White House Tavern on the Saturday night of Thanksgiving weekend. We were a party of nine -- six adults and three kids. Since the tables are in fixed positions, we were able to sit in two adjacent tables.
We ordered drinks from the bar which were delivered promptly and perfectly prepared. We also ordered two appetizers: chicken meatballs, which came three to an order and were delicious. We also had the Dip Duo, jalapeno queso and guacamole with chips. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary here, but a sizable portion and perfect for table sharing.
The menu is small, simple and manageable. Making a choice was easy, which all of us appreciated. My 21-year-old daughter had the Thai Steak and Noodle Salad, which she raved about. Two in our party had the French Dip which they said was excellent. My wife and I shared the cheeseburger and another at our table had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which I had half of. These two items tasted great, however I felt that all the ingredients which accompanied the burger as well as the chicken overshadowed the taste of meat. At $14 and $15 respectively for these items, I would like to believe that the star of the show should be the protein followed by it's supporting cast.
I would definitely return to this restaurant again to try the other items on the menu and to enjoy it's finely crafted bar drinks.
