Description: Since 1997, Jimmy's has been Aspen's neighborhood restaurant and bar, the kind of comfortable restaurant where you can dine again and again. Ask any local, and you will hear that Jimmy's is an "Aspen Institution." The menu has something for everyone, from the fresh-squeezed margaritas and the "locally-priced" bar menu to the famous crab cakes, USDA prime steaks, and fresh fish. "The menu is designed to feature the finest in American cuisine without being pretentious, served in an energetic atmosphere," says proprietor (and local) Jimmy Yeager. The energy at Jimmy's is what really draws a crowd; the bar is nearly always jam-packed and the dining room lively with activity and a mix of interesting people. The welcoming staff provide the best in top-notch hospitality. Jimmy's is "home" for a large community of locals and tourists alike.

“Great steaks and lively ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

Jimmy's is a lively bar and restaurant which is very busy. Make sure you book. The steaks are excellent and cooked to perfection. Recommend the rib eye if you are very hungry. I thought the wine list was excellent and extensive and reasonable prices for the quality. The service is ok and may be impacted by the large crowd.

“Good food. Great Cocktails”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

We managed to book in here at late notice early on during our stay in Aspen.

Good food, good atmosphere and great long cocktail list that I could have spent the night sampling !!

One complaint was the service, we ordered champagne and despite having just been served a cocktail they were not happy about being asked to wait on the champagne.

All in all, good value.

“Average at best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014 via mobile

We heard much about this place and booked dinner for my wife's birthday for a special treat. The wait staff are friendly and attentive, so that was positive. The restaurant is overcrowded and very noisy, but that is probably more influenced by jolly holiday makers, so not a big issue. Our entree's were very good, especially the house special crab cakes and also the artichoke and crab dip. What let them down? Our boys ordered hamburgers, both of them being blackened and burned. My fillet steak was rare to raw, and I couldn't be bothered to send it back... Not good enough for the expense I am afraid.

“Good food, good service, Don't over order”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014 via mobile

If you are a tourist in US, this is probably a really good place to eat. One of the few restauratns that you can find American food, mixed with a high dining experience. For example they are famous with their Mac and Chees and we ordered both as a starter, lobster mac and cheese and as a side dish with our steaks bacon and jallapeno mac and cheese. Both of them were excellent. ( but obviously you need to like that kind of food)

Wine selection is realtively expensive. They have a sommelier so probably that is a part of it.
Pretty much everything we ordered was really tasty and good, steaks were divine.

Do not over order, portions are big, read what sides come with your main and dont be tempted to over order.

If you do price you will end up paying for your overall food will be a bit too much for what you are getting. Expect to finish the night 2 courses with a glass of wine around $80 per head. Three courses with half a bottle of wine per person would be around $110-130.

“Extremely disappointing and quite embarrassing experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

After many reviews we went here on New Year's Day. We just wanted casual food and drink at bar rather than in the restaurant area. On arrival the host from the restaurant area told us to wait in bar, order a drink and take any table that came available. So we did! The seating in the bar was full, but the area was not busy, only the two of waiting to sit somewhere.

When the couple in front of us got up to leave they offered us their chairs. Just as we sat down, another waiter rushed over and told us we couldn't sit there ...he had a list and we weren't on it! He pointed to his list then to a crowd of people who had very recently entered bar. We explained what we had been told, that we had been waiting for some time for a space while we had drinks and he rudely waved his pad at us, dismissing us rudely and demanded we move!
This man was not there when we arrived and had not engaged with us until this point but was very rude and his attitude was arrogant and unpleasant.

We paid our $10 for two bottled beers ..and went somewhere with friendly staff and beer on draft!
Extremely disappointing and quite embarrassing experience if all you want is a chilled out drink after the slopes on New Years Day. Have never written a review like this but was angered so much in retrospect by our treatment that it should be noted.
