“Multi use 42 mile rail trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

This is an amazing well marked trail that is mostly paved with options to take dirt excursions=loops off of it that come back on. Rode on it from Aspen to Basalt which is only 18 miles and then took the bus back which does accommodate bikes. The trail goes all the way to Glenwood Springs or visa versa from Aspen. The bus system in this area is incredible with buses running frequently between towns. So you can go as far as you want and take the bus back.

“Gorgeous trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

This was the an amazing part of our trip. The views were amazing and the houses along the river are stunning. We went early before 7am and it was cold for us; windy and in the 40s in June. That was the only negative. We went 10 miles out and on the return the sun was peaking out and it got warmer. Probably best to got 9-12 before it gets too hot.

“Perfect bike trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Mostly paved & some gravel trail runs from Aspen all the way down to Glenwood Springs. We strapped out bikes to a RFTA bus in Carbondale and went to last stop in Aspen ($8/person with bike) From there you can explore a bit until you connect with the Rio Grand Trail, which is a beautiful, mostly downhill, 30 mile ride back to Carbondale. (add 10 more to Glenwood) Lots of great scenery and places to cop-a-squat for a rest or a picnic. Bring lots of water and lotion and enjoy the easy ride down.
