“Eric gave GREAT customer service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

After I messed up and couldn't find my reservation, I was going to have to call all 53 hotels in Aspen! Eric found my reservation and untangled everything smoothly and courteously. Thank you for all your help!

We selected the place because of cost considerations. The pillows were all the same. No choice to meet your individual comfort needs. This place has seen its prime years ago. The wind out window was broken, and I had to remove the screen to fix it myself. There was not an iron or ironing board in the room, although we were furnished those on request. The continental breakfast was minimum. The furniture is from a different era. The place is all chopped up, and we had to go up three back and forth flights of stairs to reach our room. It is conveniently
located downtown and the staff is friendly. Linda was tops. If cost is a main factor in your decision, then this is your place.

Spent 3 nights here, A very friendly welcome from Eric on reception which set the tone for the rest of our holiday.
We had a lovely room on the first floor with a large balcony.
Breakfast was included and there is a microwave if you want to heat any of your own food.
It was easy walking distance from the town centre.
Overall great value and a great place to stay in Aspen.

The Lodge is within a few hundred metres of the town centre and ski lifts, and guests park for free on-site.
We got a king suite on the first floor which had a lovely balcony and very comfortable bed.
The fittings are somewhat dated, and the room still has an old fashioned bulky tv, but the suite was really large and you get a fridge to keep your drinks/food in. No air-con cam make it uncomfortable in warm weather although a fan was provided.
Free wi-fi and coffee machine are very good, but the staff are exceptionally friendly, especially Eric (guest services).
No lift made it hard for me, as I sprained my ankle a few weeks earlier, and the breakfast buffet is basically fruit/cereal/toasted bagels/waffles/boiled eggs and yoghurts - not extensive but enough to set you up for the morning.
There are loads of cafes and bars but Aspen tends to be up-market and prices reflect this - we paid $24 for one cheese and salami pizza and $6 for a small beer.
Overall it was very good and I'd certainly return if we ever get back to the high Rockies.

Room Tip: First Floor King Suite was quiet and spacious

The Mountain House Lodge is in a lovely residential area walking distance to everything. I've stayed there many times over the last twenty years. There is no need for a car unless you want to go out of town. The staff is great and friendly and Linda will direct you to all the "must see" places in town. If there's a problem, ask Linda, and she will address it quickly and professionally. The lobby is cozy and comfy with a fireplace in the cooler weather. It's a great place to sit and use your laptop, or use the computer available for guests. Most rooms have balconies or patios. I prefer the larger rooms, as some of the rooms can be uncomfortably small, even for one person. I do recommend an upper floor for privacy. No elevator. The balconies are wonderful for relaxing before dinner, reading and quiet conversation. It can be very hot in the rooms in the warmer months as the lodge does not have air conditioning. The breakfast room is very large and pleasant with a variety of healthy foods offered. No half and half or cream for coffee, just the dry stuff. I love the make your own waffles. Yummy! I've found the beds are not the most comfortable and the furnishings old and out dated. The linens are always clean and the bedding attractive. I've had a few plumbing problems over the years but the staff is quick to rectify them. It's in bad need of upgrading but the lower cost, location, quiet area, friendly staff and overall ambiance make it one of the better places to stay in Aspen.

Room Tip: Larger rooms or suites for comfort

This was a great place to stay. Very reasonably priced for a stay in Aspen. Got to know the super friendly clerks by their first names (additionally we also shared a similar past industry to one of the guys who works there so we were able to share war stories). Very comfortable rooms with amazing mountain views. Quick drive to the Snowmass mountain where we skied. Loved this place this is where I'll be staying when I travel to Aspen.

Room Tip: Oops no swimming pool. They do have a hot tub though.

We have stayed at this place twice. Once, yrs. ago during the fall my husband and I spent a couple nights here. Most recently, my husband, our two grandkids, and myself spent a couple nights here in March. This is a place that is comfy and clean with a great staff! It is rare to find a reasonably priced room in Aspen, particularly during the ski season, but this place fits the bill. The location is very good and we always walked to town instead of driving. It's also off the main streets so it's quieter than a lot of other places. Just to be on the safe side, though, I'd ask for a quiet room and you'll be placed away from the street. We enjoyed a full
buffet breakfast which included waffles, scrambled eggs, and either
sausage or ham (at least in our case). If you go outside of the ski season, as we did one fall, the breakfast is still included, but not as substantial. We got one room with two beds and it worked out well for the four of us. We also had a balcony, although we didn't use it much.

Room Tip: Rooms off the street are quieter.
