“Rustic Charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2010

A beautiful lodge especially if you like rustic log cabins. Our room was small but cute. The common area was wonderful for a group to meet in and the hosts were terrific. Breakfast was served family style and gave us a chance to meet others.

We stayed here the last night of a 4 day inn to inn hike. Bill and Juanita were wonderful hosts and made you feel right at home. Sophie the dog (official greeter) made it even more so.

Breakfast was wonderful as well. Our room was small but clean. The only downfall was the double bed which was too short for my 6'1" husband to sleep comfortably in, but that was a minor set back.

The Allenspark Lodge was our introduction to Rocky Mountain hospitality---what gracious hosts Bill & Juanita were! They welome you to their home like you are part of their family. Their breakfasts were an ample, delicious start to our days of exploring the national park. The charm of the old lodge made us feel right at home. The lodge is very roomy and has plenty of nooks in which to relax. They can accomodate everyone from couples to large groups. Thank you, Bill & Juanita, for a wonderful stay!

We ended a four day hike with a one night stay at this lovely lodge. Bill and Juanita are the most gracious of hosts with many years of experience. The lodge is clean and well appointed. The rooms are comfortable and more spacious than one might think by merely looking at the outside. With fantastic breakfast in the morning and your choice of beverages anytime, you may not ever want to leave. Oh and the lodge dog Sophie will capture your heart the moment you walk in the door. Great place!

We only stayed for two nights but did thoroughly enjoy our stay. Both mornings we were awakened by the hummingbirds just outside our window coming to the feeders. One morning shortly before dawn we were treated to a small herd of horses going down the 'main street'. Bill and Juanita were very hospitable and did their best to make the guests feel quite at home. The B&B was quite reminiscent of Yellowstone Lodge but more on a homey basis. The only down-side was the prevalent pine-beetle damage to the trees in the Rocky Mountain National Park, so go soon before the beauty of the area is marred further. The communal breakfast was southwestern in flavor, the chocolate chip cookies were addictive, their dove did laugh at me (never knew doves laughed) and I would go again if given the chance. Off the beaten track from the touristy atmosphere of Estes Park, no cell phone reception but that is easily fixed by driving through Estes Park on the way to the National Park.

This was my very first stay at a B&B. Deciding at the last minute to try to get out of the city for the long 4th of July holiday. My friend found 3 available rooms at the lodge (wedding party cancellations!). I have to say, I really enjoyed my stay. At first I was put off by the fact my room did not have a bathroom and the entire lodge shares one shower. However, it didn't turn out to be that big of a deal. The breakfast is delicious and it was nice to have the opportunity to chat with the owners and fellow guests. This is NOT a luxury establishment, and if you're expecting that you will be disappointed. My room was tiny, but very clean. The logs really carry sound, so you will hear conversations and movement from the other rooms. They have an awesome, friendly dog. It's a nice, relaxing area, close to hiking, shopping, and dining. I think it was the personal attention that I found so refreshing. We're already planning our next trip to the area, and we will be staying at the Allenspark!

My wife and I and our 2 daughters stayed here for 3 nights over the Christmas holiday. Afterwards, when we woke up back in reality, we immediately missed the smell of the smoke from the wood-burning stove, the smell of breakfast cooking downstairs, and the smell of the pine trees in the fresh mountain air. We missed waking up to the sights of the charming, warm, rustic wooden timbers all around us, the snowflakes dancing over the hills and trees outside the windows, and the cozy fire crackling downstairs. We missed the friendly dog curled up by the stove, the hand-carved chess set on the western table, the rustic quilts on the beds, the little metal latches on the doors, and the ring of the old bell above the front door. We missed sitting around and talking about anything and everything with our hosts: horses, cars, mountain-climbing, cooking. We missed their advice on things to do in the area and getting around. We missed their generosity with little items like a pair of mittens. We've never gone back to the same place twice whenever we've gone on vacation. But if we ever break that rule, this will certainly be the first place that does it.
