This place is awesome, if you stay at this hotel you have to stay in the Clark gable suite. Honestly, worth the money and the people are cool as can b and the owner is normally here. Trust me, I will get this room every time I come to catalina island.

In summary, I decided to be polite with my words, because it is an old and historic Hotel and it deserves the needed resources to better maintain & keep up the poor condition of this place. Mr Jim Amoroso (CEO) if he cares, should pay close attention to the customer negative reviews, which I agree with most of them. i.e: improved sound proof windows, new or clean bed sheets, new bed mattresses, pillows, siling fan..very dirty.

Room Tip: Is you like the Hotel rate, I would shop around for the same price some where else.

Our room felt dirty, lots of stains on carpet . Stained bed sheets. You can hear everything going on outside. The toilet wouldn't flush. The staff didn't make you feel welcomed. Horrible experience from the moment we got on the shuttle to take us from boat terminal to the hotel.

Room Tip: make sure you dont come to this hotel.

We stayed here and found this place to be too loud. It's down the street from the beach and nearby clubs and you could hear the chatter outside our second story window. The staff was friendly and continental breakfast was decent, however the jacuzzi tub jets didn't work and the window frames were not caulked leaving the glass exposed when trying to open the window. The pros about this place is the shuttle to and from the catalina express and the luggage storage. I was thankful that our room was ready for an early check in. Keep in mind that there is no elevator and you will not receive any help carrying your luggage up the stairs. If you stay here, I would suggest reserving a room that's not close to the street.

The service of this hotel was made terrible by one person, Brett. This was the guy who greeted us when we arrived. Brett was rude, unprofessional and made us feel very unwelcome. He made it clear we were not "guest" but an annoyance. When the fire alarm was pulled at 12:30 on Sat. night and rang for 30 minutes we called to find out if it was a false alarm or not, we got no answer. One of our friends got through and was told by Brett that everyone should just stop calling and deal with it. Real nice! Geezz we will not stay there again, There are too many other nice places to stay for the same price.

We are into staying in old hotels such as the Hotel Dell Coranado when we can afford it. We stayed at the Glen and the history stands out, rich with the wood work in the lobby and the price was good . The rooms are small but it is the 2nd oldest hotel in CALIFORNIA that is the way it was back then. The staff was very helpful in telling us about the island and the hotel.

Room was large, walls a little dirty, mattress had some funky stains on it. Slideglas mirror shattered, bathroom hinges hanging out of the wall ready to fall, etc etc.
Breakfast had cheap bagel with no toaster, nice fruits, muffins are ok as well. Oj was great, coffee tasted lime some cheap farmers brother stuff. Frontdesk are nice friendly and helpful, great luggage storage free ferry pick up.
