“Great location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2014

Perfect weekend getaway! Location is ideal - a few blocks off the main beach area, within walking distance to everything (including ferry pier). Hotel is a little older, but fine for a weekend. Be aware that there is no elevator. We were on the third floor and the stairs are rather steep. Bed was comfortable. Glad to have air-conditioning as it was unusually warm for this time of year. Continental breakfast consists of instant oatmeal, coffee, tea and some fruit served in the very small front office, which then has to be taken by tray to your room (no place to sit). Unless you have kids, I suggest skipping this and going to one of the really good breakfast restaurants in town (Jack's or Pancake house).

Room Tip: First or second floor less of a climb, especially with luggage.

This hotel was wonderful. The hotel is quaint, quiet and perfectly located within easy walking distance to everything in Avalon. The room was very clean, the air conditioner was freezing cold, and the shower was a great. The staff at the hotel was friendly and accommodating - although we never really needed anything. I highly recommend the Casa Mariquita hotel. We will definitely be staying there on our next trip to Catalina Island next year. The only bad thing at the hotel was that the Internet was really slow, but we were on vacation and really didn't need the Internet too much.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely night for her birthday here. The guys were super friendly and did everything they could to help us and make our stay the best they could. It was a relaxed, no worries check in and check out and they accommodated to any request we had with a genuine friendliness. Thanks guys. Can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: We had a room on the third floor. No view from the window, but right close to a small rooftop verand...

Partner and I stayed at Casa Maraquita for 2 nights recently. The room was clean and comfortable. There are patio areas outside on different levels for enjoying the sea air. There are no elevators. We were on the 3rd floor but traveled with light luggage. We ate a good breakfast elsewhere - at Jack's which offered a real good breakfast even with a senior rate. We would stay there again

Room Tip: we asked for a quiet room and got one

This hotel met our needs of being a reasonable price for a nice room. The room was small, as others have mentioned, but was very clean and updated. It had everything we needed and was a very short walk to the Main Street. We would stay here again.

Absolutely loved this hotel on Catalina!! Just a few blocks from the ferry and lots of eating places to choose from. Be sure and see the Casino for the beautiful ballroom, organ player/ movie night and museum. Take the tour and see Mr. Wrigley's (Gum) burial site. Lots of wonderful history on this island!! Eat at Steve's Steak house and enjoy the beautiful orchids on the table and one on your plate. Eat at Original Jacks for breakfast and have a donut or breakfast on the go next door. Bingo on the beach on certain evenings for $1.00 Perfect beach and weather, great shopping and wonderful food!! Would definitely stay here again!!!

My wife, son and I stayed at this hotel during the Labor Day weekend, starting on Friday which was my birthday, so the ferry ride was free for me. The hotel is about a block away from the beach which is perfect so it's close, but not too close to the sometimes noisy crowds. A Vons market is just down the street so it was perfect for getting miscellaneous items like water bottles, munchies, Etc. The hotel itself is well kept, super clean and tidy. The staff is friendly and very helpful with all our needs and questions. When we checked out at 11:00 am they kept the luggage for us until ferry time at 6:00 pm, for free. The only caveat with Casa Mariquita is that the room and the bathroom are rather small, almost half the size of a mainland hotel. I realize that smallness is what Catalina is all about, but I'm sure there's other hotels on the island that are roomier. If we ever go back to Catalina in the future and plan to stay longer (like a week), we would definitely look for a hotel with larger rooms. Nevertheless, it met our needs for a two night stay. Good overall value.
