We recently stayed at the Avalon for a mini vacation and it was magical. From the cheese and wine on Friday night to the departing breakfast. Lori (the caretaker) was amazing. Super helpful with ideas (if you need any) of what to do to where to eat. It is definitely on our list when we stay on Catalina Island.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. I was expecting a larger hotel from the website. Hotel is small and quaint. Nice for couples or small groups. Would not recommend for larger groups looking for a party atmosphere as the vibe of the hotel seems pretty relaxed. Very short walk to beach and everything else in Avalon.

My husband and I and our friends stayed just one night at the Avalon Hotel for a quick visit to the island. Our rooms were so comfortable and well-appointed. My husband and I were in room 301 which has an amazing ocean view and a beautiful wrap-around deck with comfortable chairs. Our friends had the room next to us, which was very nice as well. Our room had a fridge, stocked with water and Snapple, microwave, coffee maker; wine glasses, corkscrew, ice bucket, high quality bath amenities, robes.... we did not lack anything! We enjoyed the roof-top deck - what a great place to sit and visit and enjoy the sunshine and view of the harbor. Laurie, the most gracious innkeeper, was very helpful and recommended a great restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we sat around the fire pit in the patio area - the hotel is not large, but the space is well designed offering several comfortable areas to sit and enjoy visiting with friends. In the morning, we had breakfast in the patio area. It was so relaxing sitting by the koi pond, fountain and garden. Even though our stay was so short, we felt like we had been away for days! Can't wait to go back again.

Avalon Hotel was the choice I made for our tri weekend lodging based on Trip Advisor reviews. It was lovely - really perfect for the weekend. The hotel is close to, but off the main track, so there wasn't noise of revelry in the middle of the night. The rooms are well sound insulated too, so it was quiet and peaceful. We were happy with the rooms - comfy bed, sparkly clean bathroom, nice towels & deluxe bathing supplies, coffee maker, fridge... can't remember if there was a microwave as we had no reason to use one. The garden was the center of hotel "community"... Because we arrived on Friday night, we went to the wine and cheese gathering. What a treat - the wine was good and the company was fun, too. We made connections with others who were there to participate in the tri and others celebrating weddings - it gave us grounds to continue to check in with each other over breakfast in the garden. While we were eating by the garden fire and visiting with Laurie and other guests -- hummingbirds buzzed around the flowers and feeders. Even a woodpecker stopped by to check out the nectar. The sun, fountain sounds, vegetation, comfy seating, company and the koi made it a lovely place to hang out before the day got going. After the tri we took our crackers, peanut butter and fruit up to the roof to enjoy the sun and the view. Husband suggests writing a bad review so that we're sure there is space for us next time we want to stay....:~)
