We recently stayed at the Avalon for a mini vacation and it was magical. From the cheese and wine on Friday night to the departing breakfast. Lori (the caretaker) was amazing. Super helpful with ideas (if you need any) of what to do to where to eat. It is definitely on our list when we stay on Catalina Island.

Room Tip: You can choose an ocean room but personally if you stay in your room to look at the ocean you are mi...

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. I was expecting a larger hotel from the website. Hotel is small and quaint. Nice for couples or small groups. Would not recommend for larger groups looking for a party atmosphere as the vibe of the hotel seems pretty relaxed. Very short walk to beach and everything else in Avalon.

My husband and I and our friends stayed just one night at the Avalon Hotel for a quick visit to the island. Our rooms were so comfortable and well-appointed. My husband and I were in room 301 which has an amazing ocean view and a beautiful wrap-around deck with comfortable chairs. Our friends had the room next to us, which was very nice as well. Our room had a fridge, stocked with water and Snapple, microwave, coffee maker; wine glasses, corkscrew, ice bucket, high quality bath amenities, robes.... we did not lack anything! We enjoyed the roof-top deck - what a great place to sit and visit and enjoy the sunshine and view of the harbor. Laurie, the most gracious innkeeper, was very helpful and recommended a great restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we sat around the fire pit in the patio area - the hotel is not large, but the space is well designed offering several comfortable areas to sit and enjoy visiting with friends. In the morning, we had breakfast in the patio area. It was so relaxing sitting by the koi pond, fountain and garden. Even though our stay was so short, we felt like we had been away for days! Can't wait to go back again.

Room Tip: I think room 301 is the best! It is on the 3rd floor with a great view of the ocean.

Avalon Hotel was the choice I made for our tri weekend lodging based on Trip Advisor reviews. It was lovely - really perfect for the weekend. The hotel is close to, but off the main track, so there wasn't noise of revelry in the middle of the night. The rooms are well sound insulated too, so it was quiet and peaceful. We were happy with the rooms - comfy bed, sparkly clean bathroom, nice towels & deluxe bathing supplies, coffee maker, fridge... can't remember if there was a microwave as we had no reason to use one. The garden was the center of hotel "community"... Because we arrived on Friday night, we went to the wine and cheese gathering. What a treat - the wine was good and the company was fun, too. We made connections with others who were there to participate in the tri and others celebrating weddings - it gave us grounds to continue to check in with each other over breakfast in the garden. While we were eating by the garden fire and visiting with Laurie and other guests -- hummingbirds buzzed around the flowers and feeders. Even a woodpecker stopped by to check out the nectar. The sun, fountain sounds, vegetation, comfy seating, company and the koi made it a lovely place to hang out before the day got going. After the tri we took our crackers, peanut butter and fruit up to the roof to enjoy the sun and the view. Husband suggests writing a bad review so that we're sure there is space for us next time we want to stay....:~)
We'd like to particularly thank Laurie (Lori, Lory?!) - she was a wonderful and tireless host. She and her staff added to our stay.

Although our room was rather small it was well adorned and adequate. Couldn't bump to another room so we had to go with this. Staff was helpful, courteous, and professional. We would return. This was our first time to Catalina and was to celebrate our second wedding anniversary and our fourth "first date" anniversary.

I loved this hotel! I stayed there this past weekend with my boyfriend. He stayed once before with family and then brought me back. The hotel staff and manager remembered him and made it feel very homey. They were so very nice and accommodating in every way. The lobby has snacks and drinks on hand just aout 24/7. Nice snacks too. Also a Kurig coffee machine with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to choose from, as well as Avalon Hotel's own tea bags. The rooms are nice. The bed was super comfortable. Maybe tempur-pedic. Nice big flat screen tv, balcony, nice tub, fridge, and microwave. Another nice touch is the bathing supplies. Nice smelling soap, body butter, and bath salt scrub. I've never seen that in another hotel before. Breakfast was provided in the am. Fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, hard boiled eggs, juice, etc. The breakfast is served in the patio area. Very cute sitting area equipped with a fire pit, tropical trees, and koi pong. Very relaxing and beautiful. The roof top deck is also a nice place to hang out. It has tables and chairs and great views of Avalon. Catch the sunset!!

Stay at this hotel! I highly recommend it and will stay here again. They pay special attention to detail and to ensure guests have a nice stay.

Room Tip: I had a garden view room, but you could also see the ocean. Room 305. PERFECT!

My husband and I stayed at the Avalon celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were treated with complimentary wine in our room with pretty wine glasses. The patio roof deck was a pleasant spot for enjoying our wine and the view. Our floor had a comfy seating area next to a window that I enjoyed sitting at reading. The outdoor patio with fire pit and koi pond was inviting. We enjoyed relaxing on the patio in the morning with our delicious breakfast and also in the evening for happy hour. Laurie made us feel like we were all friends visiting and Diana also was very nice and helpful. The room was very comfy, all the extra little touches made us very welcome. We especially liked all the wood in the hotel. It made it so warm. Lovely place.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our room overlooking the garden area.
