If you want to learn about the history of the island, this is a must see. The exhibits are well done and are very informative. The Museum is located in the Casino on the lower level, entrance on the Avalon Harbor side of the building. It is a very easy and short walk from Avalon and is worth a visit. The gift shop is nice, but a note of caution: no returns -- you buy it, you own it. My friend bought a ring and wore it that evening to dinner. When she went to take the ring off, the band split in half and the museum shop would not take a return on it. They did offer to put her in contact with the artist; but other than that, the ring was her's.
