“Not worth the price...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

I'm sure the money you pay to stay at the Pavilion is because of the location, being at the end of the Green Pier. The room doesn't look like the advertised photo, the toilet got backed up, and it just didn't measure up. It's nice to have the wine and cheese tasting every day and the continental breakfast, but there were other hotels with the same breakfast. We found another hotel just down the road, the Metropol, and it was a lot nicer and still in the center of town, for a lot less. For what we paid at the Pavilion, we could have had a suite at the Metropol. We'll stay there next time.
Guess you can't always judge a book by it's cover, or rather internet description.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get a room bordering the back street. We were in room 209 and it wasn't...

We stayed here in Feb. 2012 and had the best room with a balcony. We could see the beach and water. The staff is friendly. There are wine and cheese receptions in the evenings. The fire pits are lit at night for cozy conversations with other guests.

A short stroll from the Catalina Express, a quaint entry gate invites you past the under cover community lounge area into the check-in desk. The staff were friendly and happy to talk about whatever subject arose. The bed was deep and comfy, turn down service rewarded us with a small but tasty pillow chocolate. The wine and cheese afternoon was a great way to meet other travellers, and the breakfast was decent and plentiful. A great base to explore the rest of the island from.

Room Tip: The Bed, side tables and other furniture, made the room a little small for the luggage we were carry...

We stayed at this lovely hotel this past week. It was wonderful. The cutomer service and location are first rate. You get a light breakfast in the morning and wine and cheese in the afternoon. They have fresh cold water out all day, it was very warm this week, so this was very refreshing to come back to. The rooms are clean and spacious, they have a safe for your valuables and a refrigerator for leftovers and cold drinks. The beach is right out front of the hotel. There is always someone around to help you with anything you may need. If I had to mention a 1 con, it would be to maybe update their bathrooms, but they are very clean. We will for sure stay here again next year. For the price and location, this hotel can't be beat.

Room Tip: Book early, this hotel fills up quickly in the summer months.

Best Hotel on the Island. The staff is always so polite and helpful. The grounds are kept Disney like and make one feel like they are in a tropical paradise with the semi private ground floor patios. The bedding is luxurious and the chocolates were a delight for my family. Everyone enjoyed the wine and cheese afternoon tastings. The morning continental breakfast was so filling we rarely ate lunch. The only issue was poor Internet service but the whole Island was having trouble so it was not the hotels fault. This was my second stay at this hotel and have stayed at other hotels on the island but will only stay here now. We love the great room and have played Scrabble with family while watching the people pass and the boats in the harbor. The covered seating area and fire pit are comfortable gathering spots too.

Room Tip: Ground floor is best

The Pavilion Hotel is what I wish all hotels would be like ... From the extremely friendly check-in and free drink tickets to the cloudlike comfy beds and the more than you possibly want free breakfast to the outstanding wine & cheese evening reception -- all mind you with an ocean view since this hotel is waterfront. For wine lovers, the wines - four different kinds - were from regions of Spain and france and were quite impressive - not your typical cheap bottles but out - but explained to you - nice touch! But one of the hot spots was the firepit at night - we met people from all over the world - a couple from Germany to a female olympic boxer from Peru. Its a gather place at night and great fun! A must do is a golf cart ride around catalina and the new Zipline is great! We caught a movie in ghe old casino and just being inside such an old theater made the movie even better! Try the local lobster its fantastic! Trust me the Pavilion will not disappoint -

Catalina is a special place and we had a really lovely stay at the Pavilion Hotel for my 50th birthday. The location is perfect, the grounds are lovely and relaxing. The beds/bedding are soooo comfy. Every employee we encountered was cheerful and polite and aimed to please. We had a bit of a problem with our reservation and billing, but it all worked out, and they went above and beyond to make it right (Thank you to Madeline & Roberto!) We will be back!
