“Beautiful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

There is absolutely nothing bad I can say about the Pavilion. The outside is stunning and the rooms are plush, cozy, and very clean. Afternoon wine and cheese tasting was so relaxing and everything was delicious. Only steps from the beach too. The staff were extremely thoughtful and helpful. I could have stayed for a week. The Pavilion is my favorite hotel on the island.

My wife and I enjoyed three days at this wonderful garden spot on Santa Catalina. The rooms are not huge but are comfortable and well appointed. I was impressed that the glassware provided at the coffee service was really glass. The iron was not bolted to the ironing board. In other words I felt like a GUEST. The grounds of the hotel are spotless and absolutely beautiful. We enjoed sitting around the fire and the afternoon wine and cheese service was a nice add on. With our reservation we enjoyed access to nearly everything there is to do on the island and it made enjoying the island that much easier. We both feel this may be the niceest hotel stay we have ever had. If you go, say hi to Mayra, Paul and Samantha (not her real name). They will be glad to ensure you enjoy every minute and will include a smile for free.

I love staying at the Pavilion. Everything is top-notch, and I always feel like I'm spoiling myself when I stay here. They have an incredible staff that is dedicated to first-rate customer service. Wonderful breakfast punctuated by a new cappuccino maker. Yum! Delicious wine and cheese pairings at their happy hour every afternoon. The housekeeping is amazing. This trip, we had three people staying in the room, and we had a roll away bed. We weren't sure how to make the room work without us tripping over or bumping into everything. While we were at breakfast the first morning, Clementina, our housekeeper this trip, reworked the room for us so that we could easily navigate it. Made our time in the room so much more enjoyable. She also folded all of our clothes and tucked them out of the way. Amazing. I can't say enough about the staff at the Pavilion. Their attention to detail is so nice. It keeps us coming back. An extra bonus is the lack of plastic -- no plastic cups, no plastic utensils. Everything is glass, ceramic/porcelain, silverware. Oh, but there are paper cups should you want to carry your morning coffee away while you explore Avalon. Love it!

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms on the first level.

We highly recommend the Pavilion Hotel in Catalina Island. Upon arrival at the docking area, we were immediately greeted by Luis, the bellman of the Pavilion Hotel. He took our luggage for us. Great service, we didn't need to carry our bags to the hotel prior to checking in. We stayed in the Descanso suite with a breathtaking view of the Avalon Bay. Clean spacious room and comfy bed.. the hotel served complimentary cheese and wine in the afternoon---what a sweet treat! Everyone was friendly! Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway...

Room Tip: Book the Descanso suite....

Took my wife for a birthday and anniversary trip to Catalina and booked the Unlimited Package at the Pavilion. I don't know how anyone could ask for any more for the money. It was all outstanding. The hotel package included transportation to the island via the Catalina Express which was just a short walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is in a convenient location steps from the beach, shops and restaurants with a quaint and relaixing outdoor courtyard area where a fine continental breakfast is included each morning as is an outstanding happy hour each evening with offering of wine, beer and interesting cheese selections. The rooms were small but clean, comfortable and more than adequate since on Catalina, especially with this package, you won't spend much time in the room. For basically the price of the hotel room we got a motor sightseeing trip of the area, an undersea semi-submersible tour of the kelp beds and abundant sea life, a walking tour of the beautiful and historic Casino and, to top it all off, the exciting zip line adventure. We ran out of time there was so much to do. The hotel was also affiliated with the fine Avalon Grill next door and we got a discount there as well and a special dessert commemorating my bride's birhtday. Service at the hotel was greatly accommodating and they helped me to coordinate delivery of a gorgeous bouquet to the room for our arrival. With these prices and all that is offered, you can't afford not to go. We would return in hearbeat.

Room Tip: All the rooms are readily accessible and overlook the garden courtyard. It is hard to go wrong. Bo...

The Pavilion Hotel is a fantastic boutique hotel in the center of Avalon. The location of the property can't be beat, easy walk to beach and restaurants. The unlimited package is an amazing deal. The rooms are a decent size and are well appointed and clean. The hotel also offers a great continental breakfast and wine/cheese hour in the afternoon. The staff was great and very helpful. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: No point in upgrading to a room with a private patio, you'll spend most of your time by the fire...

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012 via mobile

Just finished a two day 25th anniversary stay in Avalon @ the Pavilion. Fdr the price (over $250 per night) I expected a little more. It is a nice boutique hotel in a great location, but the rooms are not luxurious, no dressers, regular tub and small bath. Nice touches are the continental breakfasts and wine/cheese hour from 430-530 pm. Beautiful courtyard and chaise lounge chairs to relax. One our weekend there were a lot a families and a few rowdy drunks on patios. Easy to hear noise and people talking in other rooms and in the hallways. Overall a B+
