“Wonderful for our group.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2011

We were a group of 21 women and a token husband from a Simi Valley womens club. The hotel collected our lugagge at the pier. Our rate was combined with roundtrip Catalina Express. Parking there at Long Beach $15 for each day. It was $45 total parking. We were first greated by a Pod of Whales on the 1 hour boat ride. Rooms were very nice, with in room coffee, tea shampoos etc. Wonderful continental breakfast with several juices, bagels, croissants etc. We arrived by 11:30am and purchased our tickets at the hotel desk for the 2 hr 15 min Skyline Tour that started at 2:15 that same day. Wonderful tour. We even were able to see a lot of Buffalo. We were back by Happy 1/2 hour. Advise, if you want two glasses of wine, get your first, find a seat and go get your second right away. The first night a few in our group didn't hurry so they only got one. First night was a nice Gewurztraminer and a merlot. The second a Merlot and a Riesling. Each night was a different tiny slice of bread and little cheeses. Of course we all brought wine, snacks and pretty much monopolized the beautiful fire pit for two nights afterwards. Restaurants, everything close by and within walking distance. My friend and I took the Casino tour the next day for $18 Senior Rate and it was well worth it. 9 of our ladies ziplined the second morning. And had a wonderful time. 3 of them were stuck in the middle (one at a time) and had to be sent a sand bag. In Catalina all cars are a Golf Cart or a Autoette. Worlds smallest Fedex Truck. Our group has already decided to go back next year at the same hotel.

Stayed here for two nights as part of a tour. The room was small however the rest of the resort makes up for it. The hotel is a two-story U shape with exterior walkways. The center is a beautiful garden walkway with many lounges for sun bathing. At the entrance on the right is check in, on the left a large room for the free continental breakfast with fantastic pastries, yogurt, bagels and fresh fruit. In-between are outside tables for eating or enjoying the view of the port. In the afternoon they serve wine and cheese. The hotel is as close to the beach as you can get. Fantastic restaurants are within walking distance as is everything in the town. Von's has an express store less than two blocks away if you need anything. I highly recommend renting a golf cart and doing the 45 - 50 recommended ride up the hill to the zip line area and back down. Everyone drives golf carts in this city. Great views from the top.

The hotel is in a great location in the middle of downtown Avalon. The continental breakfast was OK, the pastries were excellent. We did enjoy the wine and cheese half-hour, however, the brean & cheese was generally the same each day. I was not impressed with the condition of the room, caulking was in poor condition around the sink and the floor tiles were damaged. For the price, these minor imperfections should be corrected, but the location beats it all.

We were very pleased that we had found the Pavillion Hotel for our trip to Avalon. Very nice rooms, beautiful grounds, excellent location! They were most helpful with our elderly parents who needed a handicap room. Out of all of the hotels in Avalon, we feel the Pavillion is the best!

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor with a garden view

This hotel is nice but not worth the price. The rooms were ok but the bathroom was old and not well maintained. We purchased the romance package which included, champagne and chocolates, continental breakfast, a voucher for the Avalon Grille for dinner. The package also include 50% off for the Eco ZIp Line tours which was the highlight of the Trip. We had the breakfast delivered and it was horrible! The pastries were old and the fruit was rotten. At no point did they ask how our visit was. If you can get a good deal on the hotel, it is worth it but do not pay full price! The location is perfect and the outside area is very nice.

This is a very nice hotel. The rooms were very spacious and nice. We purchased the romance package which included, champagne and chocolates, continental breakfast each day and a voucher for the Avalon Grille for dinner. The package also include 50% off for the Eco ZIp Line tours which was the highlight of the weekend. It was all very nice. Having said that if you are looking for a quiet weekend with great shopping and trendy night clubs, Catalina is not your place. If you are looking for Daytona Beach on an island, it is.

O-M-G.. such a wonderful time we had in Avalon Bay because we chose Pavilion hotel! We were looking at hotel packages and came across free zip lining and ferry ride(from Long beach Landing through Catalina Express) and thought this is a good deal. So I called their number and asked them the price details for the weekend during Valentine's day. They have different price quote for weekends and less price through Sunday to Thursday. So we chose to stay Sunday and Monday.

The package offers ONE free zipline + ferry ride for one night. So if you stay 2 nights then 2 free tickets. Since we planned to stay for one night, we got one free tickets and the extra person gets 50% of zip line and ferry ride and unlimited free tours for two of us. The best part I liked with the front desk was that, they took care of everything and billed us accordingly. So we had the ferry rides and zip lining time slot all set for us for the same time. You let them know which tours you wanna take at which time slot and they will print the tickets for you. We were very much happy with it.

The hotel is 4 blocks from the ferry dock. The location is very convenient, close by to major streets and 15 minutes walk away to Descano beach/Casino. All the major shops and eateries start from pavilion hotel. Rest of the hotels on the way looks dingy and old.

We got the King bed room. Completely impressed with the lobby, fire pit, rooms, bathroom. Spacious bedroom, quiet surrounding, clean mattress, huge closet and mirror room. They have coffee maker, iphone/ipod/itouch docking station, mounted flat screen tv. They have complimentary Wine and Cheese tasting from 4 to 5PM. Complimentary breakfast is so-so.. they offer fruits, bakery, ice tea, bagels, cheese, coffee.

Room Tip: Any room is perfect here.
