“Nice stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

Great view of the ocean and excellent hotel and excellent room The hot tub on the top floor with the ocean view was awesome We had a great time. The only aspect that might need a little attention is the breakfast area as it was being served almost at the lobby/hotel entrance in the cold and there was no space where we could sit & eat

We had a fabulous stay at this hotel. Loved loved our ocean view room. The room was just perfect, nicely updated, great bed, wonderful jacuzzi tub, bathrobes and slippers and a refrigerator. The bed was extremely comfortable and the fireplace was a nice touch. Loved the double sliding glass doors. The service was excellent. The continental breakfast was good. Coffee, muffins, bagels, cereal, fruit. Our room location was great how we could just walk right out to the main street or into the courtyard. They really took care of us there and would definitely stay there again. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially the ocean view rooms.

I stayed in room 409 (last time I stayed in the beach house), and I had a great experience (again)! The staff there is so nice and accommodating. I had a jacuzzi right outside of my room with an amazing view (I took some pictures and sent them to my family and friends - they were pretty jealous). I highly recommend anyone who's going to Catalina check this place out.

An easy walk from the ferry, the hotel is right on the port. The room was spacious and had good amenities, except no safe or minibar, but had free Wifi and robes. The continental breakfast was good (fresh muffins too), but no tables available, only chairs. Garden view room had glimpse of ocean from balcony. Easy walk to many good restaurants and shops. Golf carts for rent, taxi stand, and shuttles near by if you want to go up in the hills. They have a locked room to keep your luggage before or after check in or out time.

Have stayed there for past 3 years and love the view and the room. lately items in room have not been working refrigerator, light bulbs. staff is nice but they increased their suite rate over $300 for next year. not worth it and I am taking my business elsewhere. I was told as a result of renovations that's why rate increased

Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your experience at the Metropole. We do strive to keep our property in tip top shape. After holding our room rates for the last several years, we have instituted some room raises. None of the raises exceed $100 so I do not understand the $300 that you refer to. Many factors are taken into consideration before we increase rates, including rising costs, improvements to the property, and our competitors rates, as well. We remain competitive with other properties on the island and many of our fine rooms are priced below others in town. We sincerely hope you will consider staying with us again.

Our first time at this hotel. Very nice accomodations. Room was clean and roomy with fireplace! Our "garden" view balcony included an unexpected peak of the ocean as well. Price includes continental breakfast complete with fresh fruit, scones and other baked goods. Evening happy hour included wine, cheese, fruit plates, etc. Centrally located. The only issues we observed were noise from the golf carts in the morning and, one particularly unfriendly female at the front desk. A couple of notes: no fitness center; no pool. An in-room refrigerator and a magnifying mirror by the sink would be nice enhancements. Other than that, no complaints and would definately stay here again!

Good service from the staff and super location close to everything. The continental breakfast was nice, decent coffee and lowfat milk available (my pet peeve when hotels only offer creamer!). The beds were extremely comfy and the room spacious. There is a jaccuzzi and TINY sundeck on the 4th floor - there were 3-4 lounge chairs in a 10 x 10 area. No bar or restaurant in the hotel, but lots of options around.

My one complaint is that the hotel did not offer wifi - neither for free or for a cost. However, if you walk down to the Metropole Market (a few steps from the hotel) and buy something, they will give you their wifi code, which worked the whole time we were there.

After reading some reviews and noting that the room did not have a safe, we hung the do not disturb sign on our door for the length of our stay so the housekeeping staff would not enter. Did not want to risk our ipads walking away.
