“never got our food :(”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

So sorry to report the service was awful. we finally got our food ordered... but after 45 minutes... still no appetizers... she asked us what we ordered, and re-took our whole order... and we said if it isn't up yet we need to go, we are hungry, and she came back and said heres your check... woahhhhh horrible place. no refills on soda and no offer to have free sodas after over 45 min wait for appetizers! she was nice though. probably she only didn't want to get in trouble and forgot to ut our order in??

“Liked it so much, we went twice on our trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Growing road weary on our trip from Reno to Santa Rosa, my husband was relieved to see the billboard for Auburn Alehouse and the opportunity to rest for lunch with a cold one. We pulled off in historic Auburn and was struck by the beautiful historic buildings and charm of the town. Auburn Alehouse did not disappoint. My husband had the fish and chips. Light and crispy, not greasy or too heavy and the "chips" and a great unique flavor. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer which was perfectly prepared and served on a spicy, tasty slaw. Great selection of beer for him, and a nice wine for me. Our server Cody was very informative and helpful. We enjoyed it so much, we went back on our return trip and split the turkey sandwich. Large enough to satisfy us both and very good. We'll definitely stop there again if we're fortunate enough to travel by again.

“Good Brew Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

Auburn Ale House is a great place for an icy cold home brew and some serious beer food. The menu is pretty heavy with artery-clogging beer food, but it tastes really good (when doesn't good beer food taste good?). The beer is the real draw to this local joint. They brew everything onsite and it is all tasty. You can go light or do dark and you won't be disappointed. On weekend nights you will need to wait up to an hour for a table or to filter into the bar. The space is fairly small with high ceilings so be sure to bring your adult voice as you will need to almost shout across the table on the busiest of nights. I would have rated this with 3 stars except the local brew is very good so they go an extra point. If you're out for a causal night with your honey or the family, check out Auburn Ale House. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, look elsewhere.

“Good Fish & Chips/Nice Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Stopped here on the way up the mountain to Truckee. They had signs all over the doors and windows that they were "Now open for Breakfast" but there was only a breakfast menu posted on the windows. Kind of a wierd vibe like it wasn't quite open and serving yet at 4pm.

When we walked in there was a lady standing at the counter just milling around so we figured she had been waited on and the hostess seated us first. Turns out the other lady was basically ignored. Oh well. Anyway, at first they were good with offering suggestions for beers and seemed very knowledgable about the beers but after taking the drink order the servers kind of clammed up and didn't give off a very friendly vibe.

The fish and chips were good but the cole slaw didn't smell or taste that great. The dark beer my friend had was pretty good as was the salad.

Anyway, nothing really exciting and nothing really bad either. I don't think I would go back but that's just because there are other options that looked interesting and I don't get through Auburn much.
