We opted to stay in the luxurious Alpine Suite for one night in June. I can tell you that our expectations were high after hours of driving. From the moment of our arrival, any doubts we had disappeared into the fragrant, warm air.
Jane and George, the 'sitting' innkeepers that weekend (whilst the owners were away) greeted us with sunny dispositions and wonderful hospitality. We were treated to cheese and wine with fresh artichokes as a free appetiser. They gave us the inside track on all the great local places to eat. Later, we found chocolates in our room and freshly 'turned' bedsheets. Next day, their breakfast shone too, with chocolate zuccini bread zinging our palates.
The Alpine Suite itself is a wonderful place for a loving couple to chill out. Massive, comfortable sleigh bed, 2 way fire place and jacuzzi with candles soothed our minds and bodies. Step outside the room and you have a commanding, peaceful view of the stars.
If you fantasize about a blissful, get away from it all romantic spot, with its own individual twist (away from corporate hotel land) then you'd be advised to check out Oak Hill manor if you can stretch out your budget. Quality.
