The Girls Restaurant on Grand Ave in Arroyo Grande has been around for a very long time, and they know what they are doing. These folks have been serving the best breakfast in the Five Cities area for many years. Delicious three egg pan fried omelets, your choice of real hash browns or country fried potatoes (done either on the grill or in the fryer, as you prefer), bacon done to order, great chicken apple sausage, a variety of breads and bagels, real oatmeal with all the trimmings, waffles or fluffy pancakes all served by a friendly, knowledgeable wait staff who can explain all your choices to you ... this is a wonderful, warm, friendly place to stop and have a great breakfast. The coffee is fresh and mild, they brew their own iced tea, there are a variety of soft drinks or juices from which to choose. It would be really hard to come in to the Girls and NOT find something you'll enjoy eating! The variety is vast, and they'll gladly add your favorite ingredients to the freshly made omelets they offer.
Lunches are a really good value, with a variety of sandwiches and salads from which to choose. If you are looking for a great fish sandwich, the Girls offers a grilled arctic cod sandwich that is possibly the best fish sandwich in the county. Served hot off the grill on a fresh bun, with your choice of potato or cole slaw or potato salad, this is a thick cod filet that is flaky and perfectly grilled ... NOT fried! It's a large sandwich, and very filling, and comes with some fresh tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato and pickles. Just delicious!
The Girls also offers a great open face homemade meatloaf sandwich that you need to try if you like a really good meatloaf. The portion is large, the meatloaf is savory and has a depth of flavor, and it's all topped with warm brown gravy that adds to the enjoyment. A real treat for those who love American Comfort Food!
Or try the Linguica Sandwich, served with pepper jack cheese (or any other cheese you choose) on a grilled french roll. It's got a nice spicy kick to it, and is great topped with grilled onions and peppers and a handful of pickles. Awesome!
The Girls offers an extensive Senior Menu of slightly smaller portions of most items, and runs many specials each day. With reasonable prices and a wide variety of items from which to choose, it is not difficult to see why this place is a favorite with locals, and has been for many years. The wait staff knows many patrons by name, and gives all who come in a warm and friendly greeting that will make you glad you stopped by.
Really good food, lots of choices, and very reasonable prices make this large and well lit restaurant a great place to stop and grab a bite. The free refills on coffee, tea and soft drinks doesn't hurt, either!
