This hotel was old but good. The grounds were very nice. The elevator smelled of urine. Bed was hard. Nice area, close to Pismo beach (short driving distance)

I was happy to see the affordable rate offered to government workers ($65.00 mid-week) so I booked the room. The BW site indicated that there was Internet access. I also requested to be on the top floor as far away from the smoking area (asthma).
When I arrived and checked in I found out that they don't select the room until you check in, which in my experience is unusual. So, I got a top floor room and brought my bags up. I looked for the Internet hookup but there wasn't any. I assumed that there would be wireless, but when I called the front desk they said that this room did not have wireless. I explained that I had assumed all the rooms had Internet because it said so on the website and that is why I hadn't asked for it specially.
Long story short, they had a great manager who found me a room with an ethernet connection. When I went to move my bags I realized that the counter girl had placed me in the top floor, just under their smoking section!! I can't imagine that she couldn't find me a room in the other wing. Anyway, even though the hallway had a smoky smell, the room the great manager placed me in was a great room.
However, the exercise room was full of broken equipment, so don't use that as a reason to choose this hotel.
The price for this hotel was less than others nearby -- a little more than $100 a night. but you get what you pay for. It was very noisy. The room didn't have a fridge. It was very basic. This is a very old motel.
I stayed at this hotel in Feb 2008 and had a wonderul experience. The ladies at the front desk were great and polite.
In March 2008 I called the Hotel and booked two nights again, believing that my experience would be just as good as before. I took a friend with me on this trip. I had a horse trailer on both of the trips and there was plenty of parking area around the resturant that was vacant. I had checked in, signed the paperwork, signed the credit card receipt and had the room keys in hand. A gentleman can in a asked if I could please move my truck and trailer. The manager came to me and said I could not have my trailer at this hotel. I explained that I had been at the facility two weeks prior and there was not problem. He informed me to take my trailer off the premises. I told him I could not do that and I could part around the vacant resturant. He then exploded and said "Get Out, Get Out, you are not welcom here" He followed me out to my truck wrote down the license plate and again loudly stated "you are not welcome here and do not come back". I was in shock as was my friend.
I called and reported this to Best Western. I realize not everyone will have this type of experience. I just wanted to make individuals aware that they do change their minds, trailers are welcome only sometimes and they can be rude.

Very pretty, cozy lobby with quick and efficient check-in. Southwestern style rooms which were quite clean and comfortable. Adequate extended continental breakfast. Loved this little gem in Arroyo Grande.
