“Difficult to review”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

The hotel is new, clean, fresh. The biggest problem is that it's about 100 yards from the 101. Cars constantly driving 65+, trucks jake braking, motorcycles, sirens. If you bring ear plugs you should be OK. I had to put the pillow over my ears to get any peace. We even asked to be moved to a quieter room not facing the freeway. Didn't matter. Otherwise, very nice hotel. Sorry Hampton but this is one I will have to pass on in the future.

Room Tip: Stay back by the pool if possible but still may be too noisy.

I've stayed at many Hampton Inns in my career. This on felt new, fresh and road warrior friendly. The location is great - right off the 101 and walking distance to restaurants.
The hotel is very clean and has comfortable beds.

The fitness center was perfect. I have stayed at the HGI in Pismo before but may change to the Hampton in the future.

Room Tip: Ask if they have any available mini suites when you arrive. If you are lucky you may get the upgrade...

Overall this hotel has it all. The pool is nice and heated, the spa worked great. The fitness center had just what I liked and the breakfast was decent. The rooms had very comfortable beds and they were furnished nicely. One downside is the THIN walls! Our neighbors were very loud(or were they?)---we could hear every word, laugh and movement. When we called to complain, the staff was accommodating, and moved us to another room for the night and called them to tell them to quiet down or leave. The next night back in our original room was fine.

My husband and I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Arroyo Grande recently. We were pleased with the cleanliness of our room and the comfort of the bed. When we checked in we were given a room that was facing the freeway. My husband asked if we could switch to a quieter room which we were given readily. Speaking of the freeway, it has easy access to the 101. This Hampton Inn is also very close to Pismo Beach. The breakfast was good. It included hot oatmeal and waffles. The only negative was the fruit mixture. It was the standard tub of cut up fruit....mostly melons. Some fresh fruit (apples and bananas) were available though.

Room Tip: For a quieter room, ask to be placed away from the freeway. The view is better though facing the fr...

We stayed here for the days leading up to our wedding and really enjoyed our stay. The staff is very friendly and the hotel and rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast in the morning offered more variety than expected. All our family and friends who stayed here had good experiences as well.

Room Tip: The main entrance, lobby and pool are all actually located on the third floor if you want a room you...

We chose this Hampton Inn when we came to San Luis Obispo for a wedding. We always try to stay in Hampton Inns when we travel, as we appreciate the hot breakfast and we always know what we're getting! We did have a slight glitch this visit in regards to cleanliness, but the hotel management acknowledged that it was unacceptable and went out of their way to make amends. I wouldn't judge the hotel on this incident, I would stay there again. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, making good recommendations for restaurants in town. The hotel is conveniently located right off the freeway..our room faced the freeway but we were not bothered by traffic noise. Rooms were a very nice size.

I was able to find this hotel using the Hilton Honors app on my iPhone and choose the room/rate that best suited my needs. The hotel was clean and had a good location on the from Carmel to San Simeon.
