“Room 226 Was A Perfect Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2011

$139 including tax bought for us a large room with a Jacuzzi and a separate bathroom with shower, all the amenities normally found and 2 above average breakfasts. Check in and out were under a minute (we had a reservation) and the staff were very congenial and helpful. All of the stars must have been in alignment because we didn't have a single annoyance. The room looks like it was just remodeled and the carpet looked like it had just been installed.
This review may make it difficult for us to book this room, but the staff deserves credit for putting together a top notch facility. I forgot to mention that the place was QUIET.

Room Tip: Room 226 was the place we stayed in.

The Hotel is ok but certainly not great as some tripadvisors write.
On the positive side the rooms are really large and well equipped and clean, staff was friendly and the location is ok. Unfortunately in our room (225) obviously smokers had left a disgusting smell of cigarettes. It seemed also rather odd to us that on our arrival the room door was totally open - so flies and some leaves had found their way into it.
Do not rent a room with jacuzzi: it is not worth the extra money, the water is brown due to rust.

Conveniently located right off the 101. Having 2 dogs, it's important to me to have a large, grassy area for them. Unfortunately, most people don't feel it necessary to pick up their dog's poop - even though there are poop bags available right there. So... I grabbed 2 poop bags and took my dogs down the road a bit where there's a big park. The $20 pet fee is very reasonable, I have 2 medium-sized dogs.

The room was nice! We got a king bed, it had a recliner, fridge and microwave. Super nice flat screen TV. Smelled fresh. I liked that the TV remote control was in a little pouch that said "Clean Remote". Hopefully it really was! Free wi-fi that had a strong signal. Am writing the review from the room, so haven't experienced the free breakfast yet. Am sure it's the standard fare, bagels, juices, cereal, etc. Free is good!

The normal fast food restaurants are right across the street, as well as a local grocery store. Round Table Pizza too, tasty but expensive.

Not walking distance from the beach, but a very short drive.

Some hotels may say dog friendly ,but they have no real ammenities. This Best Western had 2 scoccer sized dog walking areas. The room was nice and clean with plenty of room.Breakfest had plenty to start the day.Very close to many north coast attractions.Don't miss "Trees of Mystery" ,also very pet friendly. Staff was very helpfull.

Our room was large, clean and quiet. The continental breakfast is satisfactory.

We came to Arcata to tour Humboldt State University, The hotel was just three miles from the school. Very convenient.

There is a strip mall across from the Best Western with a number of restaurants and a grocery store. The grocery store carries drug store items. We had dinner at Village Pantry which is a family restaurant in the mall. The food was good and reasonably priced. There is also a gas station close to the hotel.

Room Tip: There is a reduced rate for Humboldt State vistors.
