Friendly people you would swear they belonged to the same family
Complimentary breakfast on the weekends enough so you wont want lunch
Clean full rooms with full kitchen- even has a fireplace!
Quiet so you can get work done
This is our second trip and it was as good as the first.
We will be back again
Only problem is the speedbumps are too high for my car but parking is free and ample

Room Tip: Had two rooms over two months in the back away from the front desk area

We are big fans of Residence Inn, so when we came to the area to visit colleges, it was the first place I looked. The staff at reception have been great. On our first day, we arrived a bit early, but they still were willing to give us a room. They also made good food recommendations. The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants, although the closest convenience store we could find was several blocks away (and it was a Shell Food Mart). The buildings are densely packed, so even though you are in a different building, you still hear the people in the building next door. Not a deal breaker, but something to consider. The free breakfast has been quite good and the beds are comfortable. We will consider staying here again in the future.

It was great to hear that you are a big fan of the Residence Inn! I am pleased to read that you found our Front Desk associates to be very accommodating, beds were comfortable and location to be convenient and close to area restaurants. I am glad that you also enjoyed our daily hot buffet breakfast.

We appreciate you considering us again for your future trip to Arcadia!

While others have noted the dated furnishings, I think that the spaciousness of the suite (an upstairs Queen and full bath in addition to a King and foldout couch and full bath downstairs) and full kitchen make up for some of the dated decor, worn wallpaper and paint, and popcorn ceiling. (Another RI that I have reviewed had even more dated decor, so I think it must come with the territory!) On top of that, I believe that for this type of property, some of the most outstanding housekeeping I have experienced. Each day, they had cleaned unobtrusively and left us with the towels etc that we needed. Everything was spotless, including the kitchen. (Often, in extended stay properties, fresh towels and kitchens etc are neglected.) We had plenty of room to spread out as a family, enjoyed the pool (no hot tub, though), and the the free breakfast and free parking. The breakfast was above the quality of many similar properties and had multiple options that rotated daily. The food attendant was very busy and very nice. There was a pay laundry which worked well. There were just about every type of restaurant chain available within walking distance, of chain-level quality; our favorite was Souplantation just a block or so away. All of these advantages made it a good value, and fairly quiet if you get an interior suite away from the parking lot. Our major concern was our "neighbors" in the next suite who smoked copious amounts of cigarettes outside our door every morning and left piles of cigarette butts and ashes on the stairs and landing (despite a cigarette receptacle at the bottom of the stairs and no smoking signs everywhere). My son complained to the manager, and they tried to clean up the mess. The GM also very graciously responded to the complaint in a professional manner via email. The staff was generally very nice and responsive.

Room Tip: Ask for an interior room. One of our windows had a view of the beautiful mountains, which are only...

Many members of my family have been at this Residence Inn over the last 5 weeks, caring for a family member who was/is a patient at the City of Hope. Once the patient was discharged from the hospital we needed a place with a 30-minute drive where she could stay. We could not find a house to rent so we rented a deluxe suite at this hotel. (The deluxe suite has a second bed and a second bath in a 2nd floor loft.)

I cannot say enough about the staff of this hotel, especially the housekeeping staff. The suite was spotless when we arrived and they kept it that way during our entire stay. Because family members were coming and going, staying with the patient for a few days at a time, there were many, many changes of linen for the 2nd bed. (Normally they only change the bed linens twice a week during a long-term stay.) Because the patient was not supposed to be in the room while it was being cleaned, we gave the housekeeping staff our City of Hope followup appointment schedule so they could clean while we were away. All accomplished with a cheery "No problem."

We didn't eat the buffet breakfast, but only because of the patient's dietary restrictions, but it looked just fine. I snitched some fruit there many mornings. The LA Times, even the Sunday edition, is in the office every morning, complimentary for every room. There is a guest laundry and a small workout room with 3 brand new cardio machines. There are a number of restaurants around so that those of us not on a restricted diet had our choice of cuisine if we didn't want to cook. The mini kitchen (with full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher) was perfect for our situation. Yes, as others have pointed out, the furniture is a little dated and a little worn. But it was comfortable. The most important piece of furniture, IMHO, in any hotel room is the bed and both beds here were excellent.

I expect to be bringing the patient back to the City of Hope for followup visits at least once a month for the next year. When I do we will definitely stay at this Residence Inn.

Room Tip: The 2nd floor bi-level suites are big enough for 2 couples.

Okay, I know what to expect when having a first floor room at an original style RI....footsteps coming from the Penthouse unit above. This weeklong stay was just fine. The hotel staff makes your stay enjoyable. Breakfast is good and hot. It starts at 6:30 AM weekdays which seems late judging by the number of people leaving for work earlier. Some days there is fresh cut melon. Everyday has hot eggs, meat, potatoes, oatmeal and cold cereals. The managers receptions were above average. For some reason this fairly full property only has the managers reception Mondays and Wednesday each week and every other Tuesday. Normally, this type property has a reception each Tuesday. The food at these receptions was prepared well and a step above average. The property is in need of a remodel but is well maintained. We had one issue with a leaky sink and it was addressed and fixed within minutes by capable and kind engineering folks. Room cleaning is unobtrusive and efficient.
Location: if you're visiting the area you can walk from this property to many restaurants, 2 grocery stores and a Starbucks. The bus stop is near to take you to Pasadena and a train station to LA. The only drawback we experienced at this property is that the pet walk is not lighted and rather wet most of the time. This was a nice stay and we would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: Select second floor if you don't want to hear footsteps. Request an inner room if occasional car...

Hello Richard B:
Thank you for the great review you shared in Tripadvisor and explaining the great value of our Residence Inn! From the complimentary hot buffet breakfast to the evening social hour to the hotel's convenient location, you knew what to expect and really enjoyed your stay. I'm pretty sure the room tip you shared was also much appreciated by other travelers. Indeed, this generation of Residence Inn is quite unique and new guests would benefit from familiarizing themselves by checking our hotel website or by calling the front desk directly. Many of our guests treat it as their home away from home and become familiar with our staff. We hear countless stories of guests who stayed with us several years ago, come back to say hello or to stay with us again because of our warm, friendly staff. Truly, it was our pleasure to serve you and we hope you come back to visit soon!

Regards,
Bernadette

We have stayed twice at this great Residence Inn. It is just a few blocks from the track and in the center of the downtown area. The units are off the street, low noise, and in a very safe area. The staff was terrific allowing us to check in early with some extra work on their part making it especially nice. Thanks Cindy at the front desk and thanks for those that cleaned and did the prep work. We had a little time to relax before heading to the races. High recommended.

Good god. If you are traveling here for business and require a quiet place to sleep and maybe do some work for your room, do NOT stay here.

This hotel has 2br suites on the 2nd floor. Guess what? The 1bdr units are on the first floor. So you are going to hear constant stomping/partying/crying/doors slamming that go along with all of that.

My first room.. it went on from 7pm to 12am. Started back up again at 430am. I requested a different room...got it the next night. Same deal, even across the property. I will never, ever be staying here again.

I know, some of the problems were with guests, but when I complained to the staff about excessive noise, they basically said sorry, nothing we can do. So I'm left to deal with it. No work, and lack of sleep. Awesome.

If you're looking to party, apparently this is the place to be. Along with the constant 2nd floor stomping, there is loud-mouthed drinking going on in near every corridor all hours of the night. Weeknights included. Have fun!

Hello ChadNM:
It was quite disconcerting to hear what you experienced during your stay, the noise from the neighboring suite above you. I understand we were able to move you to another room but you were still not able to have complete quiet in order to carry out your work. We apologize profusely for the frustration this must have caused you. In these instances, our front desk associates do their best to speak with the responsible guests and remind them of our other guests' needs. We are a family and pet friendly hotel. However, we strive to make everyone understand that certain sounds such as kids running around, loud TV, dog barking or even frequent feet stomping do affect other guests and hope that our message will be heeded on the first call. We appreciate all our customers and do our best to provide spacious suites with comfortable work spaces that would also allow anyone who is conducting work in their rooms, to do so peacefully and quietly.

We thank you for sharing your feedback and would like to speak with you more in detail about your stay. You may contact me at (626) 446-6500. Have a great week!

Regards,
Bernadette
