Todai is located at the Westfield Mall, and we occasionally go there to eat. Usually, it costs about 30 bucks per person (dinner), and kids are half of that.
Service is not very personal, unlike some buffets. But, in the San Gabriel Valley, it's the usual service in a buffet (unless you are eating at a hotel or very upscale event, etc.). Refills occassionally come by.
Rarely is there a wait. Decor is okay, with a theme of dark blue, white, and yellow throughout the restaurant.
There are many choices to choose from. The sushi is very good, but not the tip top quality. However, it is better than many other buffet's sushi, including some Las Vegas Hotels. There are many types of sushi...at least 10. Also, there are many appetizers and sides to choose from, including seaweed salad, tempura, and others. In addition, there are some chinese style dishes, including gyoza, dumplings, and hot and sour soup. Other than that, there is udon, short ribs, fried rice, chow mein, and other specialties that they sometimes put into the buffet. Everytime we have been there there has been a slight change to the menu.
One of the good parts of the buffet is the dessert section. There are many mini cakes made with sponge cake (not heavy), fruit, jello, green tea ice cream, chocolates, pastries, yogurt, etc. and the main attraction is the crepes. The crepes are on the small side (it is a buffet), but you can get as many as you want. They taste pretty good as well.
Overall, a good restaurant to try. However, it is a chain, and you can eat at Todais at many places.
