Driving from Reno, NV, home to Santa Rosa, CA. Decided to drive a more scenic route over Ebbets Pass, hwy 4 (Carson Valley - Bear Valley - Angels Camp) rather than the traffic clogged interstate 80. Stopped here for the night before the final leg home.
Made the reservation at the last moment, only an hour before arrival. I've been pleasantly surprised. The room is large and very clean. Also has a small refrigerator and microwave.
In all honesty I just spent two nights in the Circus Circus Resort in Reno. Supposedly in a deluxe king room. This room at the Angel's Camp Travel Lodge is far superior to that room and almost half the cost. That Circus Circus room had no fridge, no microwave and the a/c didn't work. It was stuffy and hot. This Travel Lodge room has more amenities, is cleaner, larger and a great a/c that really works well.
The staff is great. Lady that checked me in was very friendly and helpful with dinner recommendations. She called my room about 15-20 minutes after check-in to make sure the room was acceptable and to make sure there were no issues or complaints; and there wasn't.
I rated this place four out of five ONLY because the mattress is a bit on the old side and a bit squeaky. It's time for the mattress to be replaced. Despite this its not an uncomfortable mattress and I slept just fine. The mattress and bedding is spotlessly clean. My rating is more a 4,5 than than a 4.
I would highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again when in the area.
