My wife and I have eaten in some outstanding restaurants in San Francisco and in the Napa Valley wine country, and are very picky about restaurant food. This small, out-of-the-way, family-operated restaurant serves the best Italian food I have eaten in Shasta County. The table service was friendly and efficient, and the quality of our main dishes was outstanding. The dinner started with a small salad which was good, but not great. My chicken cassiatori consisted of a generous portion of succulent chicken, mushrooms and tomatoes, accompanied by a beautifully seasoned, savory sauce, which was redolent of sherry wine and Italian spices. This was served over roasted fingerling potatoes. The dish arrived hot, and was not over-salted, which I certainly appreciated. My wife's veal scallopini was also excellent. Food of this quality is a rarity outside of large cities, much less in a small town such as Anderson, California. This is not the Olive Garden.
After dinner we talked to the owner and found that he raises his own herbs, and imports his cheeses from Italy. He takes great pride in this informal yet warm and inviting restaurant, and it certainly shows. This restaurant deserves to succeed, and I highly recommend it.
