We were pleasantly surprised with the TownPlace Suites in Anaheim. We had booked first and read some reviews the night before we arrived which had us concerned. The purpose of our stay was to visit Disneyland so on two of the nights we did not arrive back until midnight.

A previous reviewer had complained about the trains. We found no problem with train noise. When a train passed there was a whistle for the road crossing but it was very short and not a problem at all.

We found the kitchens (we had two rooms) to be very clean and well stocked with utensils.

Each day the rooms were straightened up and well maintained with clean towels supplied.

All staff that we encountered were very pleasant and helpful.

We used the shuttle to Disneyland on one occasion (our son has a parking pass so we mostly drove)and it was very timely.

The location is close to many great restaurant choices (including Starbucks!)A grocery store and a Target which is helpful when you have four teenage girls with you and things are forgotten!

We would definately recommend TownPlace Suites and stay here again!

This is a nice hotel but has been built in the wrong location. The railroad is very noisy and we didn't get much sleep. Why didn't the hotel fit triple glazing to the windows? This would certainly have reduced the noise. The rooms were adequate and the small kitchen well equipped. The shuttle to Disney was very useful. Overall a nice hotel in a bad location.

my husband and i stayed there last night. 11/11. just remember you are in disneyland town. so there will be a lot of kids slamming doors and running the hallways until about 1230 am. the parents tend to forget to keep their kids in control.esp. when you stay on the first floor near the elevtor! i requested months ago in advance a quiet and higher floor, but when we arrived, 2 couples in front of us were told the hotel overbooked and they would have to put them up in another hotel down the street. when it was our time to check in we thought the same would happen to us,but it didnt. but the quiet and higher floor was out of the question. if it was for more than 1 night, i would of been real upset. oh! did i mention tracks with trains and whisles? got those too. not bad at night.room was clean with plently of towels. family food places and also fast food available next door.

If you need to work nearby or visit Disneyland, Edison Field or the
Arrowhead Pond then this hotel is for you. Full kitchen gives you all the
options to stay in for meals. And if not, just downstairs and very
close by, you will find Denny's, Panda, Fresca's and Starbucks. There's
even a fitness center there in case you ate too much and need to lose a
few pounds before heading home. For the budget-minded travellers,
McDonald's is across the street. And for the special night out, the Catch is a
few blocks away. Service is excellent. Rooms are clean but for
non-smokers, pick floors 1 and 2. The third floor was recently converted to a
non-smoking floor and our sensitive noses picked up the scent. If you
don't mind pets, take the second building. Otherwise for best security
and noise level, pick building where office is situated in. Fresh coffee
all day in the lobby. And free newspaper each morning. Free tv guide
with lots of stations on tv. Room is tastefully decorated and is overall,
a comfortable place to stay. Beautiful Marriott bed and covers. Feels
more like home than a hotel.

We stayed at Townplace Suites Anaheim for the first time last July 2005.

Good - The price was great for a large room with full kitchen (including dishwasher). The space was a lot larger than a traditional sleeping room space and was more in-line in size with a Residence Inn - minus the fireplace. Due note, however, that the amenities and quality of furnishings were more in-line with an Extended-Stay property (which is less than Residence Inn quality but is do-able). Hotel parking was free and is connected to a multi-use development that includes a Bally's Fitness Spa, Denny's Restaurant, Panda Express eatery, Carl's Jr and a bank with ATM service. McDonald's is across the street. Food, exercise equipment and money are just steps from your hotel door. You can see some of Disney's 50th fireworks from the back parking lot near the train tracks.

Now the bad - The person at the check-in desk was not that friendly. My non-smoking room smelled like a cigar-filled Las Vegas casino. The bathroom tub had a very large, dark brown stain in it. I went to Target Store down the street to buy Comet and a Chore-boy sponge to try scrubbing the ring out before stepping into the tub. The stain would not come out. The security guard was very rude and acted somewhat suspicious to me..they need a security guard to watch over the security guard. The hotel is loud as you can hear hallway conversations in your room as though they were sitting in the sleeping room with you. Some of the towels provided had either stains or holes in them, which is strange because this is a relatively new hotel.

Different Experience Than Other Reviewers- We *WERE* given PLENTY of towels on a daily basis. So, we did not have this problem mentioned by other reviewers. We also left a daily tip for the maid...so maybe this is why we got more towels? You do have to empty your own trash, though. Regarding the train...the train tracks do run behind the hotel. Our room overlooked the pool area and the train tracks, but we weren't bothered by the sound, it wasn't that loud at all. The noise inside the hotel was much more bothersome to us(please note that the hotel was sold out the nights we were there). The proximity of the hotel to Disney was not that bad. The Disney resort is a straight shot down Katella Rd, then a right turn onto Disneyland Way, approx. 5 minute drive. If you've ever stayed onsite at Disneyworld in Florida and are used to commuting to/from the parks from your hotel, then you won't find the distance unreasonable from Townplace to California Disneyland. California Disneyland tourists are accostumed to walking accessibility to the parks from their motel/hotel. Since walking to Disney from Townplace would be somewhat long, they feel the overall distance between the two points is far. Driving to Disney is a breeze and there may be a shuttle to the parks that I didn't notice until check-out time. So, it's worth asking about a possible Disney shuttle.

Overall opinion - Stay here if you need a budget property near Disney, need to cook, want extra living space and want eateries/bank footsteps from your hotel. Stay elsewhere if can afford to pay a little for higher standards of cleanliness and friendlier staff. The stained tub and stained/holey towels, cigar smell in a non-smoking room and rude check-in clerk/security guard are the reasons why I'd pay a little more myself to stay elsewhere.

I hope this was helpful.
