“Bed Bug Nightmare!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

On our third night of four, my girlfriend and I couldn’t sleep and were lying in bed talking at about 4 a.m. She got up to use the bathroom and when she returned she noticed a bug on the top sheet towards the foot of the bed. I grabbed a tissue, picked it up and took it to the bathroom to flush it down the toilet. I noticed it was an unusual looking bug, flat like a tick. I turned my computer on, curious to see what it was and found out that in fact it was an adult bed bug.
We looked around the bedding and pillows to see if there were any more and then called the front desk to see about getting a new room. We were told it was completely booked. I asked them to change all the linen in the room and clean it as we would be at Disneyland all day and didn’t have the time to check out and look for another hotel as it was our last day in the area.
I started reading about bed bugs online and where they like to nest, so I pulled the bed away from the wall and lifted up the top mattress and looked at the bed skirt and found a nest of them right in the center. I found it totally disgusting knowing that the last three nights we were sleeping there with our heads just inches away from it. I grabbed one of them and sealed it in a Tupperware bowl and left it on the refrigerator. I called the front desk again and was told this time that they actually did have FOUR vacant rooms we could move to. We went through every item of our clothing and searched our suitcases and moved to the new room.
We checked the new room top to bottom to see if there were any signs of bed bugs there and didn’t find anything. The room was clean but I did find it odd that the pull out couch was still extended and the coffee table and cushions were on the other side of the room. If we didn’t already have tickets for Disneyland we would have been long gone.
After we returned form Disneyland at about 10 p.m., we noticed that our laundry bag was missing and figured out that I had left it on top of the desk cabinet after I had checked it for bed bugs in the previous room (432). I called the front desk and asked if they had seen it and she said no but would give me a key to check the old room. I went to the room and had seen they had removed all the linen, except the bed skirt with the bed bug nest, the Tupperware bowl was now on the counter-bed bug still inside, and my laundry bag was missing. I went back to the front desk and asked if she knew where it was at and she said it may be with the dirty linen.
I explained to her that we were leaving early and needed to get it back before we left. She said somebody from housekeeping would be coming in soon and she would ask them to look for it. I asked to call me no matter what time and I would come and get it.
It was a big mistake staying, both of us could not sleep the entire night. Every time you would itch or feel something on your skin we would go into panic mode.
The next morning I called the front desk at 7 a.m. and let it ring about 30 times, no answer. I called again at 7:30 and after about twenty rings they finally picked up. When I explained to the person what was going on she didn’t have a clue because the girl from the shift prior didn’t pass it along. I was then told it may be in the lost & found and would have to wait until 8:30 until the manager came in with the key.
We loaded the car and went to the front desk at 8:30. The manager looked around for it and came out and tried to hand it to me. I said before I take it, can you tell me where it has been? She said it was put in with the dirty linen and I asked her, do you mean the dirty linen from the room with the bed bugs? She said, no it was with the other dirty linen, which I found hard to believe and asked her to put it in a plastic bag, which she did.
Lesson learned, upon check in look for bed bugs from top to bottom before brining my suitcases in and accepting the room. There is also a website called Bed Bug Registry that has reports of hotels that have bed big issues. I’m at home now, have all my clothes and suitcases in the shower, going through each item and washing everything. After reading some of the horror stories of bed bugs online, I do not want those things in my house.

Room Tip: Check for bed bugs

We sincerely apologize that the room you initially received did not obtain the level of guest satisfaction you deserve. While our hotel operates with a preventative program to make certain our hotel and its fittings are all maintained; this is an industry wide problem and unavoidable at times and we take this very seriously. We are again truly sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate you bringing the matter to our attention in order to rectify and eliminate the problem from our hotel, which also comprises of replacing mattresses, replacing all linens and calling in a professional company within our industry to further aid in eliminating the problem immediately. “Great location in Anaheim for Honda Center and quick access to freeway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2011

We stayed here for two nights in November 2011. Our purpose of the trip was to see our Vancouver Canucks hockey team play the LA Kings and the Anaheim Ducks.
Hotel was very clean and seemed quite new. Free parking and breakfast included.
Booked it through expedia.
Front desk staff were exceptionally nice, chatted with us about our visit to Anaheim, gave us directions to shopping.
Room was nice, functional, queen bed and pull out sofa. Free internet that connected easily and quickly, no special codes required.
Room had small kitchenette with fridge, microwave etc.
Complimentary breakfast was very good, pancakes, bagels, english muffins, various yogurts, oatmeal, coffee, tea, juices, milks, hot chocolate. Could have used some jam, only had pb, honey and grape jelly.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

My husband and I came to Anaheim from Arizona for the weekend. Upon arrival we were greeted by wonderful staff, very helpful even printed out a list of restaurants for us, We had dinner at the Catch walking distance away. Our room was lovely, A two bedroom with full kitchen very comfortable Spacious but still felt cozy It's a great place to stay if you are wanting to go to the many attractions in and around Anaheim: proximity to Angels Stadium, The Grove, The Honda Center, The Block and Disneyland by using ART shuttle which has a stop directly in front of the hotel with tickets available at the front desk. Breakfast included. There is also Free Coffee, Tea & Hot Chocolate available in the lobby 24 hours. This was our first stay here and it won't be our last!! Thanks Guys for making us welcome

“Trains Trains and more Trains”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

Great location near Disney with a shuttle for $4 per person to the park. We stayed in October 2011 and paid $161 for the largest room they had because we were travelling with our 2 teenaged boys and wanted them to have their own bed. The pull out mattress was paper thin and not adequate for my youngest son who is 100lbs. When the pull out is set up it takes up the entire living room and makes getting to the phone or tv impossible. The hotel is located right beside the train tracks with lots of traffic that start early and run late. Every time the train would pass they would blow the horn to clear the intersection. That generally started around 5:30am and would happen every 15 or 20 minutes. We had planned on staying there for 3 nights and arrived late the first night. After 5:30am when we were awoke to the trains we managed to break the reservation (with no charge) and checked into the Hilton just up the street for only $40 bucks more a night. While worth it!

We sincerely appreciate your review of our hotel. We are delighted you found our hotel to have a great location and truly apologize that the sofa beds were not as comfortable as you would have liked. Our hotel does operate with a Preventative Maintenance program in place to make certain our hotel and its fitting are all kept up. We will look into the matter more closely. While the trains are out of our control, we do recommend for our lighter sleepers to possibly request a room that is located towards the front of the property. The trains tend to run more frequently during morning rush hour and less frequent in the afternoons and with even larger gaps on the weekends. Thank you again for your feedback as it allows us to further improve upon the present and future stays for all our guests.

“Great staff!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011 via mobile

I wasn't sure about this hotel at first from reading the reviews but once I finished my stay I was hooked.
I was running late and the staff were polite on the phone letting me know they switched my reservation to a late arrival. Once I arrived I found that the refrigerator wasn't working properly. The guy at the front desk was there to help me within 5 min since the maintenance guy wasn't there at that time. He ended up getting me a new room and some free ice cream for my trouble plus helped me carry my things since I was alone. The new room was just as nice as the other one with a freezing cold fridge which was perfect.
The only cons I have with this hotel are the trains and Disneyland/ Angel stadium fireworks can be pretty loud but if you bring some earplugs then no biggie the only other things are the Internet can be a tad slow but if you have 3 or 4G again no big deal and the TV only has basic cable. All in all as an Elite Marriott Rewards member it's a really great hotel compared to some really bad ones I've stayed in. It works well for what you need it for and I love having a full kitchen in the studios!!
