“So much easier when you stay at a Disney Hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

After spending several weeks cruising Alaska on the Disney Wonder and then going through Western Canada on a train our final destination on our holiday was going to be spent at Disneyland. The last time I was at Disneyland I was about 8 years old and always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and I'm glad I did. We got the Disneyland Express from LAX after flying in from Calgary, and it took about an hour to get to the hotel. Check in was easy and we ended up in the Adventure tower over looking the pool. The rooms are pretty basic but well appointed the Bathroom was big enough for the 4 of us and the storage was enough to store 6 medium sized bags without an issue.
Now here is why its easier to stay at a Disney Hotel.
The Staff really go out of their way to help you which is great if you need to book reservations for things.Everything is close by, Downtown Disney is just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel which meant you had heaps of restaurants to choose from and shopping heaps and heaps of shops ,the Monorail station was 3 maybe 4 minutes walk great for those Magic mornings which you get everyday as a guest staying at a Disney Hotel, and we used to our advantage the ability to buy things in the park and had it sent to our hotel so much easier.
Yes it may be expensive compared to other hotels around the area but it is worth it .

Room Tip: See if you can request either a room facing the Theme park or Downtown Disney worth the view. Take...

I stayed in the Disneyland Hotel within the Frontier Tour.

I was with my Dad, we had a room with 2 queen beds and it worked out great. Even as a 24 yr old adult I fell in love with the special Disney touches throughout the room; I was very tempted to try to steal the decorative pillows.

For us, it worked great to wake up and head straight to the park to enjoy the extra magic hour. It was a quick 10 minute walk right to the park gate from our room.

The hotel itself was decorated INCREDIBLY beautiful for Christmas time. It was very cold while we were there, but the pools were still open and being patrolled by life guards. Unfortunately we did not go in, but it looked super fun with an awesome water slide.

We were seated instantly for breakfast at the Steakhouse within the hotel (as the line up for Character dining at Goofy's kitchen was quite long... as was any line at this time of year) the food was wonderful.

Everything was fantastic and I can't wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: Frontier tour is the furthest from the entrance of the tower, less traffic and noise.

The rooms are great with mickey and Disney features throughout. If travelling with smaller kids it's worth the extra expenses for the convenience. Purchases from Disney can be sent back to your room. Easy walk to monorail and downtown Disney. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

We loved staying at the Disneyland Hotel. The staff were superb, the kids loved it (so did the adults). It is a short work to DisneyLand and California Adventure (maybe 8-10mins), through Down Town Disney, which is a lovely walk.
The Hotel is a little 'tired' but its Disneyland and full of little Disney touches. We ate at Goofys Cafe in the morning and the kids loved the character dining. We also ate at Grand Californian which had a great breakfast, and more characters to interact with.
The rooms were big enough for our family of 6 we had joining rooms with a loungeroom in the middle, it was perfect! The twinkling headboard was just so fun!The pools were great fun and room service was good too! We would recommend it, made the Disney trip so easy, and the magic hour each day is priceless!

Family of 4 stayed for 6 nights in a standard room the week on Jan 5th. Upon check in they upgraded us to a view of the pool as it was my daughters birthday. I found the desk help was very nice. The room was ok, like others have said do not expect this to be a 5 star place. The walk to California adventure and to the main gates of Disneyland (you can board the monirail at a shorter distance ) was longer then I expected and after getting soaked on Splash Mnt and the River Ride I wished we would have stayed at the Grand California as they have an entrance right by the River ride. I would stay here or at the Grand California again just for the fact you can be back to your room in 15 minutes and for the early admission as the lines were the worst I have ever encountered in my 20 times there. 2 hours to ride the Cars ride, all other rides were at least 1 hour or more-never will come back this time of year- we also expected more holiday decorations -back to the room- one of the worst showers ever- no water pressure. The room set up was ok and seemed clean enough. Laundry room was a nice plus to use.

I stayed at this hotel in the 1970's as a child, when the monorail was much closer. The magic in my mind didn't disappoint me when I stayed in September in 2013 with my three children and my wife.

There is paid parking onsite, although we had a car drop us. The Disneyland Express bus services the hotel from LAX as well as the other hotels on the strip.

Yes the hotel is much more expensive than the hotels on the strip on Harbour Boulevarde. But there is a reason for that. The Disneyland Hotel is much nicer, closer and provides access to the magic hour in either Disneyland or California Adventure on an alternating basis. As you leave the hotel towards the pool area, from the Fantasy Tower, you are told which theme park is available on the next day.

We stayed in the Fantasy Tower, in room 2611 on the 8th floor. The hotel has pictures from the past all over the hotel, in the room etc. The room had a view of Disneyland and we could see the fireworks one night from our room. The bathroom had a shower/bath. Look out for the tiles with the hidden Mickey's. The light was held by Mickey's hand. The bedheads were magical and showed fireworks behind the castle with the flick of a button. The music was cute too, and every night the 5 year old wanted the fireworks in the room so she could go to sleep. We fit the five of use with no issue. The 5 year old slept on the sofa, that turned into a very comfy sleeper bed, just turn it over and there it was. We also had room service one night which was great, especially after a very busy and early start.

As we watched the fireworks we could hear the soundtrack on the tv and as the kids were very tired to was a great alternative. We had seen the fireworks on an earlier evening. Each room key was bar coded with the names of each guest, take them with you to the park entry areas as they prove you have early entry rights. You also need your tickets.

If this is your first visit to Disneyland, go to the Town Hall and ask for a 1st visit pin, they are free, and you can also exchange real currency for Disney dollars. Lots of fun to use and are can be used at any store in the park. Also makes a great souvenir. The Disney Dollars are year stamped.

The pool area was fantastic fun, especially the water slide. The kids loved them. Shaped as the original monorails, there were two, one not so steep and shallow landing area, and a steep one with a deep lunge pool. Make sure the kids can swim on the steep one as the life guards will not let you stay in the pool to catch them as they come off the slide.

We ate at Goofy's Kitchen, for dinner and met the characters. Just outside there is an original Autopia car on display, the kids are allowed to sit in it, great photo opportunity. The Mad Hatter was especially great fun. Yes, its not cheap, but still the photos, with Goofy at the beginning of the restaurant, and then with the characters in the restaurant were also worth it. They come up to your table and talk to the kids, have your camera ready as they stay and talk to each child and then move on. If you have a DisneyPhoto Pass then the Goofy photo can be added onto your account.

There is a small coffee bar on the grounds of the hotel if you want a quick snack in the morning. Bagel, coffee, cereal and milk to eat with a take away spoon in your room. Goofy's Kitchen does breakfast and is marginally cheaper in the mornings.

There are two shops, one little one that sells some souvenirs and snack items, and a larger gift shop with some items that are not available in Downtown Disney. They will also deliver to your room, but then your room is only a few steps away and so we didn't bother.

If you purchase anything at either of the parks you can have your items set back to the hotel. Just use your room key to charge the purchases to your account. They parcels are then available to pick up from the concierge outside near the parking reception, the next day. Just remember that you need to be still a registered guest to access this service. So don't use it on your last day as it may not get to your room in time.

Downtown Disney is a two second walk away from the hotel. We ate at the Earl of Sandwich, which was nice and the stroll through Downtown Disney was lovely every morning.

You can access the entry in the Grand Californian if you stay at any of the Disneyland Hotels. In fact its a selling point. We tried to use it one morning to go into California Adventure, but the staff warned us that they only had 1 staff member checking bags and security lines were long and they advised us to go to the main entrance. So we decided not to try again, as the walk in and around the Grand Californian and then back again to the main gate meant more people in front of us.

Can't fault the staff or the check in process. Just leave the kids in the cup and saucer chairs in the foyer and they can watch old style Mickey Mouse cartoons, while you wait to check in.

Overall our visit to the Disneyland Hotel, for 6 nights, was brilliant. I loved the old photos and the location was great. Yes it wasn't cheap, but there are always deals, and after all it was where I wanted to take my children as I had visited.

Can't wait to stay again.

Room Tip: Fantasy Tower as it has access to Goofy's Kitchen and the check in area. The other two towers d...

Some friends and I were visiting Disneyland, and wanting to stay somewhere central.
The hotel is a five minute walk from the parks and Downtown Disney. It's convenient if you have children, as it is easy to pop back and forth from the hotel.
It's totally comfortable, and the headboard is wonderful, it twinkles and plays music.
It may be a bit pricier than the surrounding areas, but well worth it for the magic!
