We're Disneyland annual passholders and frequenters of the resort. I thought I'd write a new review in light of our recent visit. We were there 9/18-9/21 of this year. Our previous trips have been a dream come true, but this was one wasn't so magical.

I booked my room in FEB for a SEPT stay, well in advance. Reqested my usual upper level Downtown Disney view room in the Dreams tower. I called at 90 days, 30 days and one week prior to arrival to make sure my preferrences were noted in the system. When we got there we were assigned a pool view room in the Wonder tower....not what I wanted. It took me 2 hours to get a room change. Finally we were in a room that made us happy....only to find out our friends were in a very poor location. They were on the 2nd floor of the main (Wonder) tower in a room directly above the sliding glass door to the pool area. They heard drunks (yes, drunks at Disneyland Hotel) going in and out making noise until 2am. Oh, by the way, they were travelling with their 6 month old son and 2 y/o daughter....they need quiet. Then on top of that....construction was underway promptly at 6am in the room next door to them.....YUCK!

Our stay at the parks was fabulous, we couldn't have asked for more, but naps for the little ones were impossible with construction going on in the next room! The rooms ARE large with two queens and a daybed for my 2 y/o son plus enough room for a pack and play for my 1 y/o son....this is why we always stay here.

The main reason I'm writing this review is because both my friend and I have contacted Disneyland with our concerns. She was poo-poo'd in an return email and I was NEVER even acknowledged. NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I have reservations to stay again next month and am considering cancelling or re-booking at Grand CA or Paradise Pier.

  • Liked — The hotel grounds, pool and close proximity to the monorail (but we never used it)
  • Disliked — Our unusually poor experience.

This was our first stay in the Disneyland Hotel. We've been to Disneyland a lot... stayed at the Paradise Pier, Staybridge, Crown Plaza, and #1 rated Double Tree (at least on tripadvisor as of this writing) The Disneyland Hotel is much older compared to the above mentioned hotels and would still be our first choice on our next stay. You should know that the rooms still have popcorn ceilings and that the bedding is pretty outdated, but the location and grounds more than makes up for it.

If you do book this hotel spend some time around the koi ponds, beach pool and neverland pool (with water slide). The whole place has a very relaxing feel. We also loved the rose garden!

Consider becoming an annual passholder before your stay. You'll pay $60 more than a four day pass, but you'll save about $100 per night for a hotel room during the off season. You only need one pass holder per room so you will see a real savings even if you are only staying one night. Pass holders have a bunch a of other perks and savings so you may want to do a little research before you buy the standard tickets for you entire group.

  • Liked — Location and grounds!

I haven's stayed here in over 10 years, I always opt for either the Grand Cal or the Paradise, so thought I'd try this again since it was my "Little" cousin's 21st, and the hotel just had to be the original. Aside from draining your pockets, the really outdated building, old smell, cramped dark hallways, carpet nails coming through, worn furniture, wallpaper peeling, blah, blah...it's not too bad, with a super view from our room 2841.
We got there on wed morning (for 3 nights), and were greeting very nicely. Since it was in the middle of the week I was hoping they would have a room ready and yup! we got our room, dropped off our stuff and headed to the park.
Thay had said that there would be some noise due to construction, but we heard "nada".
I've attached some pics for those who like to see what a certain room number looks like. Definately open the window, and watch the fireworks!
My only thing was the parking! Man, could it be worse? even now after the trip I'm still not sure if someone was to ask. We went through Valet section twice (confused), drove around and parked in the registration area parking. Then when we got out of that area, the driveway only goes one way, so back through the valet again, and around and we first tried the hotel guest parking up the ramp, card never worked, so I broke the rules, backed up quickly and went into the flat general guest parking. Finally we found a parking waaaayy out at the other end. A long, walk that made me hope we didn't forget anything.
Room service gets two thumbs up! Avocado though, gets a thumb down.
Overall I honestly rate it at about the same level as the Paradise Pier (easier Parking), but I like it once in a while when the price is right.

  • Liked — The view, and Room Serive all to myself one night, while watching fireworks.
  • Disliked — THE PARKING!

I had stayed here before the major Downtown Disney construction and didn't know if it would still be as convenient. Many reviews made the rooms sound old and shabby. It's true the rooms are older, and some of the fixtures reflect that. However, the rooms are spacious, and our adjoining rooms each had a small sofa, chair and desk, and two very comfortable beds. Everything was very clean, with cute character wallpaper and bedspreads. The Dreams Tower was a great location.

The pros: two days of early entry (worth the extra money alone!), use of the "secret" DCA entrance, close to the monorail station (good for afternoons only--long waits at opening and closing), and general Disney magic--Goofy was on site to help at check in!

The cons: expensive on site restaurants, longer walk to main gates, and no perks such as complimentary breakfast. To save money and receive free breakfast, I'd stay at the Best Western Park Place Inn, which is actually a slightly closer walk to Disneyland. But the DL Hotel was a fun splurge.

  • Liked — Disney magic, early morning entry
  • Disliked — No complimentary breakfast
