“basic hotel, convenient location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Disneyland hotel was as expected. Our room was a basic, clean, 2 queen bed hotel room with a few disney "flares" that were cute but nothing spectacular. It would be nice if they offered more suites in a place where families dominate. We checked in at 4:15 and our originally assigned room was not ready, however the nice staff seemed to "find" us something which was nice. Our view was of he pool which was no big deal. It is really convenient to buy tickets from the desk and also have entrances to the parks via the monorail and to the Adventureland park via their other nearby property. It would be nice if there was not as long as a wait for the hotel guests as we certainly paid premium prices compared to other nearby hotels. It is disneyland so EVERYTHING is overpriced.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we had to wait 30 minutes with 2 toddlers while they prepared a room. The 1st room was by a noisy service elevator, so we were upgraded to different room. The room was roomy enough for the pack n play and had space for our one year old to crawl.
We loved the Mickey details, our upgraded view of Downtown Disney and the Magic Mornings.

What we didn't like was the TERRIBLE house-keeping! Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we had to wait 30 minutes to clean it. One of the days we came back after 2 pm to put the kids down for a nap and our room wasn't vacuumed and the beds were only partially made! The following day, we came in and the room again was poorly cleaned. Having a crawling baby on a dirty floor was very upsetting.
We stayed at the Dessert Inn during the first half of our week to save money and NEVER had any problems with the House Keeping! The rooms were done in a timely fashion and cleaned thoroughly. We were very disappointed with The Disney Hotel's house-keeping and didn't even get an apology when we voice our frustrations on check out. I thought we would at least be contacted by the Costumer Service Dpt after sending in their questionnaire after our visit, but no..nothing.

Room Tip: I would upgrade if you care for a view!

Booked a room for 1 night for my daughter's 12th birthday and it was well worth the price. Arrived several hours early and they had a room ready for us. She brought 3 friends along to enjoy the pool and water slide on Sunday afternoon, then had a meal and cupcakes in the room. The friends went home early evening and we enjoyed some time in the park that night, then used the Magic Morning early entry and also got a Passholder bonus of 2 Fastpass tickets each for any ride. Monday morning we were able to ride California Screamin' 3 times, Toystory Mania 2 times, and Radiator Springs Racers 2 times in about 40 minutes! After that the park got crazy busy and wait times for some rides were 110 minutes during the day, so we really appreciated that we could ride what we wanted very quickly in the morning. Hotel was clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. This was a great way to celebrate her day and it made her feel special. Would definitely do it again if I ever have a chance again. Proximity to the parks is such a big plus!

Room Tip: If you pay more, you can watch the fireworks from your room. Good thing I didn't opt for that b...

We have stayed several times over the years. The hospitality is always the best. Spend the extra money and pay for the E Ticket club. You have snacks, desserts, drinks, and best of all, firework from the 11 floor - no crowd hassles.
Eat at Steakhouse 55, it is very good.

Hello!

We just attended a wedding at the Disney hotel in late December. Surprisingly, it didn't seem too busy, and there didn't appear to be any other weddings.

Now, we had all kinds of problems, many of them involving the hotel. I was part of the groomsmen party, but the girls have their entire own list of terrible things that happened. I'll let the girls do their own perspective - but this is from my own perspective of the guys side.

Groom, groomsmen, and groomsguests arrived to the Disney hotel. When we asked where we were to go and change, we were immediately sent to the Nile room. Grabbed all our stuff, headed that direction, and found that was actually the girl's changeroom - and the bride was there.
Had to return to the front desk and ask for a separate Guys changroom, and were forwarded on to the Wilderness room.

So, headed that direction and started setting up. The suits were wrinkles, so we asked the front desk for a steamer - and they told us "right away". It arrived maybe 30 minutes later while later, but definitely wasn't working for us. It would charge for ~20 seconds, and shoot steam for ~4 seconds, which was impractical. When we asked if they had another one, they mentioned that it was the only one the hotel owned.
No problem, so we asked for an iron - and were told "right away" again. We called an hour after that, again "sorry, right away". The third time we called (3.5-4 hours after the initial request, good thing we arrived really early), we were apologized to and told that we can't have an iron in the Wilderness Room due to safety reasons. What kind of safety reasons, they couldn't say. Elevated to manager, no luck. Elevated to another manager, who said he would come down to talk with us. About now, we're starting to feel crunched for time due to the wedding quickly approaching.
Twenty minutes later, an awesome guy by the name of Brandon arrived with a new ironing board and iron. We asked what was going on, and he said that their was a new arrival of irons and ironing boards, and that they were doing inventory. He had no idea about safety reasons, which leads us to believe that they just didn't want to take an iron and board out of their inventory when they were counting.
That was inconvenient.

Anyways, when we finished up with changing and had to get on with the wedding, we left the room. I immediately called security and asked them to lock it, and they said they would be right there and do it immediately. I also asked how long we would have the room for, and they said until our event was over - which means we could leave everything int he room all night. Awesome!
Ceremony proceeded well, and everything else was great, until I went back to get something from the room 4 hours later. Decided to check the lock before calling security to let me in. It was UNLOCKED! We had passports, wallets, and all sorts of other valuables in there, and security said they would lock it, and here it was unlocked.
So, I called up security again, and they apologized and said they would be right there. I came back shortly after, and found four security outside the door, and they mentioned that the lock was actually broken and they would be standing there until they could get someone to come and fix it. This means that the first security guard who came to lock it (if one came), couldn't get it to lock properly - and just left it alone.
Luckily, nothing went missing. This had the potential to be a very serious security issue and inconvenience, especially because international passports were involved.

Finally, night went on well, had dinner and speeches, and the food was pretty good. Our Spanish waiter was actually awesome - anytime a drink was empty, he was immediately there like magic.

Then something else happened and some of the women disappeared for a while (including the bride's mother). Nobody really knew, or made a big deal about it, until we later found out what happened.
From my own perspective though, I was just getting ready to leave early, and went back to the Wilderness room (the change room with all of our stuff in it). It was locked, which I was happy about. So, I called security to open it, and waited for someone to show up. Few minutes later, someone came by to let me in. It was completely empty and cleaned out, and ALL OF OUR STUFF WAS GONE (despite us being told that we would have the room for the entire night).
Security had no idea about where our stuff was, so I had to go and find out.

Tuns out, from what the ladies told me, that a handful of staff and security came into the wedding and threatened to shut it down unless we could empty those rooms. Then, they were given the choice - They could leave all of our stuff on the ground outside the building, or they could put it all in the bridal suite, and we would have to pay the bell-boy for this.
Bunch of the girls stuff was put into the bridal suite, and all of the guys stuff was TOSSED into piles beside the elevator just down the hall from the wedding.
They could have offered access to the luggage storage (which was apparently completely empty that night), but instead they said they would [toss it on the street] or [we could pay to have it tossed closer to the wedding].

I feel bad for the night manager, because she got everyone's upset rants that night. She was really nice, but I feel that it may have been too many things going on to correct any of them - unless they're in writing.

A few of the girls with us have always adored Disney, and everything they stand for, and expected the utmost quality in our visit. It turned into a pain-in-the-rear and stressful wedding, although the pictures all came out beautifully.

This was extremely inconvenient. For the price that was paid for this wedding, and how empty the hotel was at the time, nothing like this should have been a problem.
I sincerely hope that it was just an unfortunate chain of events, and that Disney doesn't do all of their weddings like this.

I recently stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, as expected the service was excellent and friendly at Disney. They were able to get me into my room right away even though I arrived very early. The room was a good size with a view of the pool and all those little Disney decor touches you'd expect at a Disney property including fiber optic fireworks in the artwork over the bed. The hotel is just steps from Downtown Disney and a quick Monorail ride or walk into the park. Also, the Magic Morning hour for being a hotel guest is also a major plus!

We booked three rooms and arrived after a very long and tiring flight from Europe to find our room was not ready till after 8pm and spent 30 minutes standing with all our suitcases outside the room as it was being cleaned. When it finally was, there were a few issues- minibar not filled, no shower curtain etc but the staff were great. They were extremely responsive to our dissatisfaction and went above and beyond what was needed to correct this. This has made our stay pleasant (& we are still here!)
It's the perfect place to stay if you want to take full advantage of being in Disneyland.
