Let me start by saying the front desk staff is incredible in every way. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. They were the best I've found anywhere.
Sadly, that's where the compliments end.
Like other guests, we found our room less than satisfactory. The carpet did, indeed, leave our feet black. When I brought this up as I checked out (I didn't bother to mention it earlier, because I was pretty sure we had booked one of just a couple suites, and I didn't want separate rooms), I was told this is because people walk to and from the pool barefoot, tracking in dirt.
Aside from that, our room smelled like urine very strongly when we arrived, but the cooling system took care of that. The shower head in the tub is so low that only my young children could use it without having to bend over backward to rinse their hair. I'm 5'8", and I had to bend waaaaay over. The wallpaper was peeling off the entire bathroom, and the towels were so scratchy and threadbare that they actually hurt to use. I checked the beds for bedbugs, though, and they were very clean.
Outside, the hotel is falling apart. The hot tub was filthy, and when I talked to the front desk, the manager poured something that looked like it came from a bleach bottle directly into the water and turned on the filter, which was turned off for some reason. I'm the only one in the family who didn't swim or use that hot tub, and I'm the only one not complaining of an earache.
The circuit breaker boxes are located outside, but they aren't waterproof. Exposed wires come out of a lamp post surrounding the pool. I'm not kidding--all they have on them are little yellow caps. If someone were to remove those caps (which is easy to do) and the wires touched, that would be the end.
Railings and banisters are loose; the inspection for the elevator has expired. Truly, the building is in violation of so many codes, I'm not sure it's even safe to be there.
Despite the staff, I will not stay at this hotel ever again. This is not the first bad experience we've had with Days Inn. Even the location, which is the best (nearest to the resort without being IN the resort), isn't enough to bring me back.
