We were only going to sleep so it did the job well for a cheap price. Can't complain. We went to disney and the walk was not too far.

After a terrible start to our holiday with two absolutely shocking hotels we finally found this place at short notice. We had to move rooms once during our 10 day stay as the first room had some plumbing problems they couldn't fix. The rooms were clean and tidy, perfect after a long day at the theme parks. All of the staff were friendly although there were a few language barriers. We loved dining at the restaurant at the front. Like others we were a little misled about the location and expected it to be within walking distance to Disney, but it certainly wasn't.

This property should be required by law to remove the "Maingate" from it's name entirely. Like yahoo68 I ended up booking this hotel instead of the Ramada Maingate which, true to ITS name, is at the Main Gate. Arriving at the wrong property I immediately called RMLGN and asked if we could cancel, fully understanding that I could be charged the one night. They said that I would be charged, so I decided to spend the one night there. The staff at reception were indeed pleasant. Once I arrived at the room it was obvious that I would be forfeiting the one nights' charge as there was absolutely no way I could stay in that room. In their defense, the room is priced accordingly. Anyone familiar with the market (it was only my second time there) would have probably been wary with the price at the onset. My bad. Their bad is having Maingate in the name, especially with a freeway between them.

I read a LOT of hotel reviews from people who don't seem to travel that often. I, however, do. I know what to expect from a four star hotel and what to expect from a two star, and I think it would be silly to confuse the two. First off, the service was great. Me and my partner arrived early and without a rental car - such a short distance away from the park, we decided to hoof it for the trip - and the man at the front desk got us squared away. The room wasn't finished yet - it was only 11am - but he took our bags and locked them behind the desk so we didn't have to carry them with us all day. The room when it was done was perfect, a comfortable bed with clean linens and clean bathroom. The mini fridge was convienant and the breakfast was acceptable. No problems with noises or safety in general.

The bottom line is, if a hotel itself is an important part of your trip, and the amenities are a big draw and going to occupy much of your time, go to the Grand Californian and pay 400$ a night, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. If, on the other hand, you are looking for somewhere to shower, sleep, and relax in comfort after a long day of activities, spend less than a hundred a night and stay here instead.

Here is the real deal, if you want marble counter tops and room service pay $200 a night for the Hilton, but if you want a nice room for the price, this is the place. The rooms were clean, it was a quiet place, good breakfast, best A/C I have ever had in a hotel room and shuttle to Disneyland 100 feet from the hotel which ran every 20 minutes. We had no problems and would gladly stay there again anytime.

Room Tip: If you want to go to Disneyland get the shuttle passes for the ART (Anaheim Resort Transport) $4.00...

We started with kayak telling them we wanted to stay at the ramada maingate which is directly across from the maingate at disney. Kayak transferred me to a reservation center for ramada and I proceeded to book the room. While doing so I was reassured 2 seperate times that I was being booked at Ramada Maingate and asked if it was the one across from disney and assured it was.
Upon arrival we found we were booked at maingate north which is not walking distance from the park requiriing us to pay an additional $15 per day for parking and not convenient to go back and forth from teh park to the motel.
The clerk at check in was very cordial and understanding even telling us that she would not charge us for the room reservation if we were able to get a room at the hotel we thought we were reserving.
We chose to stay because we were already there and the rate of $75 seemed reasonable to us.
The beds were comfortable and the tv was new but that was the end of what was nice about this hotel.
We were in room 103 and it was certainly someplace you didn't want to be barefoot as it turned the bottom of you feet black as though you were walking in a parking lot, the wall in the bathroom had obvious water damage that had been "patched" as opposed to repaired, the bathroom door was ill fitting and there were no liners in any of the trash receptacles.
If you don't get up early there won't be much to choose from at the continetal breakfast--we ended up having to go to the restraunt next door to eat which reduces the idea of a great rate for the room.
We stayed 2 nights and upon check out our card was charged $94.00 per night instead of the $75.00 quoted rate. After a 20 minute conversation with the male desk clerk who was less than cordial I was told "that's the chance you take when you use the internet" referring to how we had gotten to this location in the first place.
After lodging a complaint with corporate Ramada I was told that the price of our room would be refunded to us by ramada limited maingate north but what actually occurred was the $18.00 and change per night was credited to our card.
Be extra cautious about the play on the name if you are thinking this is the ramada at the maingate I assure you it's not and the money you think you are saving will be used up in additional parking fees for the park and eating at the restraunt because of understocked continetal breakfast.

This property is 9/10ths of a mile from Disneyland. If you want to spend the whole day in Disney you should bring the car and park it at Disney. It would be a long walk back after 12 hours on your feet. Especially if you had kids. The rooms were clean and immaculate and you can see the nightly fireworks from Disney at the hotel. The breakfast is great and plentiful. The staff was very helpful and answered your questions. I wouldn't hesitate to go back

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quiet and have little tables where you can eat. Great for the children.
