“Friendly staff and great value for the price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2011

My friend and I were looking for a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable, no-frills place to stay within walking distance of the Disneyland complex, and this hotel was just great for that.

The man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay -- from check-in to the purchase of Disneyland tickets to check-out. He even gave us a bogo coupon for a local eatery.

The 2-bed room wasn't very big, but it was fine for the two of us. The closet space was a little tight because of the micro-fridge taking up that area. Also, the bathroom was pretty small (very little counter space), but again, this was fine for two guys with minimal toiletries. Everything seemed clean and well taken care of.

Because the door (outside corridors, by the way) didn't have a tight seal all the way around it, outside noise could have been a problem, but this was late January and there weren't many people around. Plus we had a room away from the street. If we had been nearer the street and there were more guests coming and going, the noise might have been bothersome. Also, the parking lot is kind of small and could have been tight, but there were so few cars there at this time of the year that it wasn't an issue.

The free breakfast was pretty minimal, but for the low room rate we paid, I wasn't expecting much. There were orange juice, coffee, apples, and small pre-packaged pastries. We didn't use the pool, so I'm not sure how it was. It didn't look too bad.

Because the south entrance to the Disneyland complex was closed for construction/remodeling of California Adventure, the walk was a bit longer than it used to be. It took us about 12 to 15 minutes to walk from the hotel to the park entrance, which isn't a big deal for us, but some people might not be too enthused -- especially after walking around the parks all day.

I think we really lucked out because of the time of year (as far as the low rate, the ease of parking, low noise, etc.). I would definitely consider staying here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room farthest from the street.

Dear RidesCoaster,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. Since your last visit we did quite a few renovations and upgrades to the property. Incidentally brand new doors were installed on all rooms hence addressing the issue you had with the seal. Furthermore minor cosmetic upgrades were performed throughout the premises. Carpeting was replaced throughout the hotel as well. We are thrilled that you loved our service as our goal is to provide an exceptional level of service to all our customers all the time. Your feedback has been invaluable!

Clean rooms , reasonable prices, and best of all efficient friendly staff. When we asked for extra things they were brought to us within 2 minutes. We could not have asked for better service.Within walking distance to Disneyland. If you don't want to walk a shuttle stops right at the door of this inn. Microwave, coffee pot and fridge in room. All said it was a great experience at reasonable rates.

My colleague and I stayed at the Islander for a convention center conference. We had separate rooms which had a connecting door, but which also had a private entrance to the bathroom. Just what we wanted. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, with two TV's, a refrigerator and microwave. 25 cents is needed for the ice machine! Have not encountered that before. Parking was easy and we loved the white shutters and flowering vines around the hotel. Pool looked inviting. Breakfast was just sweets, apples and coffee. Had to heat my water up in the micro for tea. Our only concern was the distance from the convention center and I ended driving my colleague from the convention center, as she has back problems and trouble walking. Overall it was a great stay, and the price was reasonable for a suite. The Garden Walk with shops and restaurants is just right across the street from the hotel.

Dear Marlicar

The suites are very popular here at the Islander. They are very reasonably priced and convenient for groups that require a certain level of privacy. Renovations and upgrades are constantly being performed here at the Islander to keep up with the growing customer needs. The complimentary continental breakfast consists of Danish, Donuts, Fresh Apples, Orange Juice and freshly brewed Coffee every morning. It is surprising that you had to pay 25 cents for Ice as the Ice machine on our premises dispenses free Ice. Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We really appreciate your comments.

Stayed 3 nights in April to visit Disneyland. floor plan was good with 2 BDrm suite, with 3 queen beds. Rm was clean and beds comfortable. Microwave and refrig good size. Grounds were clean and the pool was nice size and warm. Price was excellent for location to Disneyland. Breakfast was a bit small and having to buy ice at 25 Cents was annoying. Otherwise, Great stay, Great Bargin. We would stay again.

Dear Rcor1999

We are thrilled that you had an exceptional experience. It’s wonderful to hear that we are doing a great job! Our staffs constantly strive to make things better for all our guests every single day. Our refrigerators are of decent capacity and easily accommodate big soda bottles and 1 gallon milk cartons. We have found this to be very useful for large families staying in for longer periods. The Ice machine on our premises dispenses free ice to all. We are surprised that you had to pay a quarter for ice. We will certainly look into this matter. Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay. This helps us as well as potential patrons to make an informed decision about our premises.

Our stay was wonderful! The facility was so accommodating for my family of 11! The facility was clean and well-kept. The location was perfect for us to walk to Disneyland. And, of course, the staff was friendly and available at all times if we needed anything.

We would definitely stay again and would also recommend the Islander Inn & Suites to our family and friends.

Thank you!

Originally had a booking for 5 nights but checked out after 1 night. This place is extremely noisy, the walls are paper thin and it is on a busy road. It appeared that the rooms were not that clean. Sheets and towels are long overdue for replacement. The breakfast is not even worth mentioning. Far better choices are available.

I picked this property because of its proximity to Disneyland and cost per nights stay. I was a little leary until I opened the door to the room, my wife was impressed by the cleanliness (she didn't have to take out her Clorox Wipes) and the comfort of the bed. Room was good size and had a decent sized refrigerator (hold gallon size milk) and microwave. Staff at the desk were very nice and helpful. We will be staying at this pro[perty again.
