“Great Family Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2008

.Sometimes it is small things that matter and this is the case with HoJo one of the best things in our room was the fact that there was a separate basin and mirror outside the bathroom. This allowed us to get ready in the morning so much quicker. Small but important touch. The other positives about this hotel were the location, across the road from Disneyland, and the very friendly and helpful young front desk staff. I would recommend this hotel to any families traveling to Disneyland

We returned today from a four night stay at the Howard Johnson Inn, Anaheim. The hotel is older but our room was very large, the housekeeping staff kept it spotless and the bed and bedding were great. The pool was great for kids, the grounds were very clean and nicely landscaped. The staff was also very helpful. Mimi's Restaurant across the road had good food, fair prices and excellent service. The walk to Disneyland from the hotel was less than ten minutes. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Hojo for 5 nights from the 20th March. We had Premium Disney View room with two queen beds and a balcony and without the worry of freeway noise. We were in building 1 on the 7th floor. The room was a great size for our family of 4 (kids aged 10 and 6). The beds were extremely comfortable and the whole family slept well every night. The rooms are not 5 star but are comfortable and very clean. We had a great view of the fireworks from our balcony; in fact we could even here the music accompanying the fireworks. The location of the hotel is great and it is approximately a 10 minute walk to the front gates of Disneyland. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and my daughter loved the ladies in the shop on the ground floor. The kids also loved the swimming pool and spa after a full on day at Disneyland. There are a number of diners/restaurants in the area and the one opposite the hotel called Mimi’s was fine for breakfast and dinner, the prices were very reasonable and they have a kid’s menu. In fact they provide the kids with crayons and the menu which has pictures they can colour in and a number of puzzles etc. The kids meals were about US$3.50 from memory. What I liked about all the restaurants was the cost of the kids meals. There are also some good dining options at Downtown Disney. The Hojo is definitely value for money. We booked through a travel agency here in Sydney and the cost was A$130 a night but we paid an extra US$15 a night to upgrade to a Premium Disney View room. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to travel to Anaheim.

I booked this hotel because it received such good reviews.
I requested a room away from the freeway noise, but we were given a room that was next to the freeway. If you don't mind sleeping with the air on to drowned out the noise then it's a great location. The rooms were less than average, and the beds were terrible. Next time we will stay at the Marriott across the street, Marriott has the best beds. We have stayed at the Marriott in the past, and I would recommend it over the Howard Johnson.

We stayed her with a large group kids that had the opportunity to perform at Disneyland. We had a wide range of ages and lots of families. We felt that for the price we payed we got clean large rooms and the overall experience was very good. If you are looking for a good deal within walking distance I highly recommend this Hojo. The grounds are very well kept and the rooms are in good condition. The walk isn't bad either(less than 10 min.) I would stay here again with my family or in a large group.

We just got back from a 3 night stay at the Anaheim Howard Johnson. The two-queen bed room was ample for our family of 5 (kids aged 12, 8 and 6), but it so happens that my 8 year old loves to sleep on the floor. The Hotel itself is older and from the outside it appear a bit tired. However, the location is great, an easy 5-10 minute walk to the entrance of disneyland, yet you are far enough away to not be in the middle of the disney foot traffic. Across the street is the best resturaunt option around, Mimi's Cafe.
The Howard Johnson staff was quite friendly and they gave us a room on the 4th floor with a view of the park. This was quite advantageous as we had a great view of the nightly fireworks display which my kids loved. The interior of the room was nice and did not look as tired as the outside of the property. The rooms were kept very clean. We only needed a few things from the staff, but they were polite, courteous and prompt in responding to our needs. The little gift shop/mini market on the ground floor had souveniors much cheaper than in disneyland and the groceries they sell did not have a big mark up, so you can load up on healthier snacks to bring to the park and you save a bundle in the proces (they had a nice selection of fresh fruit as well).
The swimming pool is large, nice and clean with a small kiddie pool and kiddie fountain as well. There are fancier pools around, but this one will do fine for relaxing around after a day walking around disneyland.

We would definitely stay here again for a disneyland vacation

We have tried 3 other hotels in the Disneyland area. HoJo is definitely a winner with us. We have 3 kids--7, 13, and 16. The room was spacious enough for all 5 of us, including the rollaway bed (no extra charge!). Having a real fridge in the room--not a mini-bar--is fantastic when you travel with kids.
The room was very clean, and everything was in good repair--as was the case with other areas of the hotel (except for the video arcade, with some broken machines.) One morning I went out early and saw HoJo employees giving the exterior areas a thorough scrubbing down. It reminded me of the attention to cleanliness you see at Disneyland itself.
Even though our room faced the freeway, there are these gigantic pine trees that stretch all the way to the top of the hotel, providing sort of a screen. We were not bothered by noise at all.
The pool area was very popular with our kids. HoJo staffers kept the fresh towels coming.
It took us less than 10 minutes to walk from our room to the Disneyland turnstiles.
We'll be back, no doubt.
