I stayed here for a conference earlier this week - I made a last minute reservation through the Hilton website. When I arrived there was a line snaking down the street for the valet parking so I self-parked and hauled my luggage into the hotel. Still, I was not prepared
for the warn and dated decor of the lobby. Check-in was fast and friendly, but being a Hilton Honors member, I was shocked by the shabbiness of the room that I was assigned. The prior reviews are valid - this hotel is like something out of the 70's - beige wicker - pale pink florals. They do advertise the renovated rooms everywhere, but I only saw one floor that appeared to have been redone and one floor in progress. My floor and room had stained carpeting, peeling wallpaper, a stale smoke smell, an ill fitting door to the hallway and an AC that rumbled loudly every time it shut off. The hotel is conveniently connected to the Convention Center, but other than that, and the competent and timely housekeeping, this is not the kind of hotel that you would expect from Hilton and associated with a Convention venue. If there is a nice bar in the hotel, I wouldn't know
because it wasn't obvious in the lobby, And to cap off this disappointing stay, I had to stop at the front desk when checking out because on my final bill slipped under my door, they had only charged me 3 nights for a 4 night stay.

  • Liked — Housekeeping was prompt, came early every day
  • Disliked — Shabby, dated, worn

After reading the recent reviews I was a bit scared, but gave it a try at the $69 hotwire rate. Really it was not that bad. We opted for self park & after 20 minutes and looping the block about 5 times we finally found the garage (at $11 a day, Im not convinced it was a bargain), but once we got into the hotel...

Staff was friendly & helpful, room was clean/ quiet. It is a little frustrating seeing the "NEW" hilton rooms advertised everywhere and then getting some sorta retro 70's room, but the beds were fine, linens clean. The restaurant is overpriced and we skipped it, but it seemed to have a nice well stocked bar down the hall, that was worth a try.

Overall, I'm not sure sure it would be my first choice to stay at, but it was decent.

It never ceases to amaze me how the Hilton chain is such a high class name in Europe but their North American properties aren't at nearly the same standard. Take this one; when you walk in the lobby looks artsy and modern, and the check-in went smoothly. I knew I was in a bit of trouble when I saw a sign advertising their "newly redecorated" rooms which meant that most of the rooms hadn't been redecorated in ages. Sure enough as I entered my room I was convinced that I was in the grandparents' old apartment! My room looked like it was decorated in the 70s. Dull, dirty carpet that bunched up in places, a tiny TV, creaky bed with a mattress that sagged in the middle. While the bathroom did feature ample hot water, it also featured disgusting residue on the tiles. The wireless internet connection was hit-and-miss. The gym was well equipped but cost $12 per day. I didn't eat at any of their restaurants, but one of their bars was well stocked and had a nice ambiance. The hotel is right next door to the conference centre which was great, but you'd need a cab to get to most places for dinner (Morton's is a 2-minute walk away, and the Disney Adventure is a 15-minute walk). So, if you're in Anaheim for a conference I'd suggest the Marriott right across the street as it was modern, clean and the well equipped gym was free for guests. The $200/night Hilton is definately not worth the price.

  • Liked — proximity to conference center
  • Disliked — At $200/night I'd expect a modern room and free gym

I always stay at Hiltons and normally have great experiences. This is
the worst Hilton I have EVER seen.

First, the room type I reserved and paid more for - not available when I checked in. Had to move the second night to get the room I wanted. This hotel is not laid out well so you walk and walk to get to where you're going. Moving all of your stuff for a seven night stay is no picnic.

Second, there were three teenage boy football teams running all over the hotel, all hours of the day and night. Yelling, swearing, beating
on doors and fighting. In the halls, in the lobby and at the pool. They have security guards ,but apparently they are wax figures because they never actually move to do anything. When we called to complain because SIX of the boys were in a brawl at the pool and there were small children there hearing foul language and could physically be hurt - we were told security would be there "right away." After 30 minutes we left the pool area since no security ever showed up and brawling teenage boys have a way of ruining poolside ambiance. Those that had small children gave up hope too and took their very disappointed kids back to their rooms.

Third, in the middle of my shower - midway thru my seven night stay- soap in hair mind you, boom! water cuts off. Covered in soap, I dial the front desk who it takes 15 minutes to figure out why I have no water. Then I am told they did shut the water off to one floor but mine wasn't included. Ok, can we either get the water back on or find me a place to rinse off since now I am getting a rash from the soap?? That would be fabulous!

They get me a room to rinse off in that is across the building but on the same floor two very long hallways away. I must pass thru the throngs of teenage boys on the way, with soap in my hair and in my bathrobe. I get in to rinse the soap off and there is a knock on that
door, so I have to get out of the shower to answer the door. There stands a man with a case of bottled water! He seemed confused. And had to call the front desk to figure out what was going on. I still don't understand that whole thing - who cares at that point??

I have seen better managed motel 6's!

Fourth, the valet, which is an outrageous charge everyday, dented my rental car which MY INSURANCE had to pay $664!!!!! This after the valet AND the valet manager said that I would have nothing to worry about. I quote "We deal with this all the time. We will deal directly
with your rental car company's insurance and work it out with them." Yeah, well that was a complete lie. The valet is over priced and incompetent. What you get for your money is a bunch of 12 year olds playing with walkie-talkies. Save yourself the money and self park, you will have to walk about six miles to get to your room but you are more likely to get your car back in one piece.

Fifth, I expected Hilton rooms with Hilton beds and amentities. What I got was an overpriced outdated Holiday Inn. Wicker furniture. Yes. Wicker. Badly stained. And don't be fooled that they are remodeling. They are remodeling ONE floor. The one the pool is on.

Sixth, the food is just gross. You are far better off heading out to eat. It seems like they don't have enough staff in the restaurant. We waited 30 minutes to ORDER our food.

Whatever you do, don't be fooled by the name. Yes it's close to Disney but all the hotels in that area are close to Disney. There is beautiful property called candyland something that we passed several times that looked nice and best western that looked decent - both within walking distance and I'm sure they would be cheaper.

  • Liked — LEAVING!
  • Disliked — Getting tricked into thinking it was a REAL hilton!!

This hotel is in middle of remodeling . Bare that in mind. Four adults and 2 children stay over Columbus Day weekend to go to Disneyland. Rooms clean, baths clean. Only problem was that they have only 1 restaurant that serves breakfast (other than room service). Usual buffet breakfast - but it is $20 for everyone over age 6. Location was great - we walked to Disneyland and to the Convention Center for a Conference. We read previous reviews and were very leary about staying there - and that wasn't the case at all. Staff was most courteous and attentive. The remodel is very lovely.
