“Great Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

I read many reviews about this place. Some of it is true, but you get what you pay for. We arrived on a Tuesday. The traffic getting there was terrible. But once in the room we were able to relax.
The traffic can be heard inside the room. But I can't imagine any hotel in the area that doesn't have this problem. The roads in the Disney Resort Area are several lanes wide.
The breakfast was fine. Not great, but beat spending money that I needed to buy lunch and dinner with. A slice of pizza in the park is $7, a burger $10, a cookie $3, and none of it comes with a drink.
I like how they had cold fruit flavored water in the lobby. The hotel is only a 15 minute walk from the lobby to the gates where they scan your ticket. We were glad that we didn't buy the extremely expensive shuttle service.

Stayed for 5 nights in a kids suite (Yuha Suite). Room was clean. Small fridge with a tiny freezer section. King bed in half of room with a sliding glass door? wall? separating the bunk beds & sleeper sofa. Kids area was very cramped with the sleeper sofa extended. We packed in 3 adults, 3 kids and an infant. Scheduling the use of one bathroom was an effort (next time I'll spend more). Housekeeping was really nice about leaving extra towels every day. The toilet wouldn't flush on the first night, but maintenance showed up within a few minutes & swapped out the handle (I was scared because of some of the negative reviews on their service).

Room Tip: Away from the elevators &, if possible, away from the street.

My husband and I took my parents to Disneyland recently, and stayed in a 1 Bedroom Suite for 3 nights. The room was very spacious, especially for 4 adults. We opted to sleep on the pull-out couch, while my parents stayed in the bedroom (even though there were 2 large beds in the bedroom). It was a great way for all of us to have our own space. The kitchenette was a great help when we were getting ready early in the morning, or having an afternoon snack.

On our last morning we checked out the complimentary breakfast which had a great selection!
The cold water in the lobby was a bonus as well especially coming back from the warm heat of Disney.

It took approx. 10 minutes to walk to the Disney ticket gates each day, and there's a 7-Eleven, ABC Market, Subway, Pizza Place, Liquor Mart all at the corner of the hotel.

Staff were friendly, and the business centre was a fast and easy way to print our boarding passes before we left.

Would highly recommend, and would stay there again!

Room Tip: I only saw the 1 bedroom suite - would recommend.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the park entrances. Free undercover parking. Our rooms were renewed, clean and comfortable. The water in the lobby with the lemons or strawberries was a plus. The hot breakfast is delicious. We have been there for 8 years in the row and believe me, it pay the value for your money. There is a very clean pool area with a excellent jaccuzi, both in a great size, very organized and pretty. The staff is nice and always willing to help, managers, housekeeping, food employees, little gift shop stuff, restaurant End of conversation, we will be there next year again!!!!

Room Tip: They have a room for each family size or individual, just ask for...From my room I could see the Dis...

We are a family of 4 traveling from Australia. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the park entrances. Free undercover parking, very good value at around $130 US a night. Don't base your booking on the free American breakfast as that was a huge disappointment. All incredibly bad food choices. Nothing healthy. $2 washing machines a hit though.

This was the first time we stayed at the Desert Palms. When we arrived we were told, “Oh by the way, your rooms were upgraded to suites.” Our two regular rooms were suddenly suites! It was awesome. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. I love the water in the lobby with the lemons or strawberries. The hot breakfast buffet was great. Everyone in my family found something to eat (cold cereal, oatmeal, bread and bagels, waffle bar, eggs, sausage patties, coffee and juice). There was always someone cleaning, restocking food, and making sure tables were ready for the next guests.

My only complaint would be that the pool is small. However we did swim and we did enjoy it. Everything was clean and every staff person was friendly. We are Disneyland fanatics and visit at least once a year. I’ve stayed at many hotels along the strip and had problems or issues with each of them. We had no problems with the Desert Palms. I definitely recommend the Desert Palms to everyone!

I will choose to stay at the Desert Palms again in the future. It was a great experience.

We stayed at this Hotel in June 2013. We chose this Hotel for it's position and value for money. We were not disappointed on both accounts. Nice and close for all locations we wished to walk to but very peaceful at night. Considering it's proximatey to Disneyland excellent value for money with breakfast included! Exactly what we wished for. Parking within the Hotel was freely available and the staff were pleasant. No complaints and would again stay at this Hotel should we visit again. Remember if you want everything 5 Star then you pay 5 Star prices!
