“Nice hotel, father walk from Disneyland that we thought it would be”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in the condo suite with our 2 kids ages 5 and 9. It had 2 queen beds and it was nice to shut the door to the living room for privacy for them or us, if anyone wanted extra sleep. It was great to have a fridge, stove, and microwave. Also, the vanity was separate from the shower/toilet, which is good for getting ready in the morning. We ate at the buffet breakfast 3 out 5 mornings, and the kids enjoyed it. We would also stop next door at 7-11 before going to Disneyland and pack our backpack with bottled water and snacks, very convenient. My husband and kids used the pool once or twice too. The only real complaint I have is that with kids it is about a +/-10 minute walk to Disneyland. In the morning, not a problem. But after a long day, more so. And the hotel DOES NOT offer a shuttle. Would probably stay at a closer hotel next time.

Dear NoCali-momof2,

Thank you for your wonderful review of Desert Palms Hotel. I am glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay in our Sahara Condo Suite.

I wanted to inform you that the hotel does offer a shuttle to Disneyland and am very sorry that this was not relayed to you properly at check-in. The Anaheim Resort Transportation Shuttle picks up at the 7-11, right next door to our hotel every 20 minutes. Desert Palms Hotel is on Route 9 and All-Day shuttle passes can be purchased at the Front Desk.

With this in mind, we hope to see you and your family again next time you are in Anaheim!

We stayed in the Kids' Suite. The room was much smaller than I anticipated. It was very narrow. This room is designed for up to six guests with a king bed in one room and a sofa bed and bunk beds in the other room. There were just four of us - two teens. I can not imagine how six would be able to share this space. That being said, the staff was very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was nice. Considering the age of the hotel, the room was clean. The walk is two long blocks from Disney and very manageable. However, after walking all day at the parks, it would have been nice to have a shuttle as an option. Next trip we will stay a bit closer or at a place that offers a shuttle service.

This is the 7th year I have stayed at the Desert Palms Hotel and once again, it was a great experience. The hotel is clean and they offer a hot breakfast each morning from 7-10am. The hotel is located within walking distance of Disneyland which is very convenient.

We had a GREAT stay at the Desert Palms Hotel. We’ve stayed here every year for to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We had the best room with a view of the fireworks at Disneyland. This year, they surprised my daughter with a gift bag filled with special treats. She was so happy!!! She said it is her favorite hotel. Even though it was raining, we still had a great time in the pool and jacuzzi since it is kind of protected by the surrounding walls. The front desk staff (especially Jenny) were just amazing. The housekeeping staff and ladies that helped at breakfast were also very good. My kids just love making waffles and being able to get their own juice. Plus, it saved us a lot of time and money every morning to just go upstairs for a nice, healthy and hot breakfast. We don’t have a single complaint. We enjoyed the new restaurant menu/food too! We will be back next year for sure!

Room Tip: We've stayed in a room with 2 beds and the room with bunk beds. Both were great. We havent had...

Good stay from the minute we arrived - friendly staff on reception, always good when coming from a long flight. We stayed in a two bed/two bath suite which was spotlessly clean. Complimentary breakfast was very good, good hot food choices and the cook-your-own waffles a nice touch! Would recommend.

Recently, we spent 8 nights at this advertised boutique hotel near Disneyland. Don't be fooled by the pictures, the beauty ends where the elevator starts (only the lobby is nice). We were given an upgrade from a king room to a 2-queen room with a kitchen. The room was clean, but not comfortable. The sofa was hard, the beds were even harder. Even the pillows were hard. The fan in the bathroom sounds as though a jet engine is taking off, and the furniture is practically falling apart. The breakfast buffet was completed disgusting. They don't put out anything healthy at all, unless you consider canned fruit healthy. The front desk staff was nice and did their best to make us comfortable. This is a true testament to why I never pre-pay hotel stays. Lesson learned. The only thing this hotel has going for it is that it is extremely near the park.

Room Tip: Watch out for rooms that face the pool. My mom was in one of these, and it was noisy way into the n...
