“Great place to stay for Disneyland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

We stayed 3 nights here and were very happy with our stay. The front desk was always helpful and friendly. The room (we had a kids suite) was on the small side for what it was, but perfectly adequate and extremely clean. Plus the bunk beds were a huge hit with my kids and the balcony, though too tiny for even a chair, faced the park and I think if we had been up in the room at the right time we would have had a great view of the fireworks. I am a light sleeper and easily bothered by noise, and I have to say I thought the noise level was excellent here. Unlike places we've stayed in the past, we did not hear noisy doors opening or people talking in the hallway. The air conditioning and bathroom fan were both nice and quiet.

One neat surprise was the pool. While totally drab and unexciting during the day (not a complaint - it is what we expected from the photos and was fine with us. We didn't use it because we were at the parks but even if we had, my kids would have been happy!) at night they turn on underwater color changing lights which actually made it magical! The kids thought it was amazing.

We discovered that walking would have been easier than the shuttle, when returning from the parks. It's really not too far (though difficult for tired feet) and when we missed one shuttle, we had to wait a full forty minutes to catch the last bus of the day. I'm not sure why as they are supposed to come every 20 minutes - but this one came and then sat there for another 15. This is not the fault of the hotel - just a tip - walk home!

Really our only criticism of the hotel was the breakfast selection. I can see that they tried to have a varied selection, yet none of it was very appealing to us. There were only 2 cereals (corn flakes and fruit loops) and we did not care for the eggs. The waffles - a great idea and easy to make yourself - were really dense and didn't taste so good. I think if they just added bagels and cream cheese, a few more cereal options or some granola, and bananas, it would be easier for people to find something they like. It was nice to be able to sit outside on the roof (or inside if you chose) and eat breakfast, though!

Room Tip: We asked for a room (kids suite) facing the fireworks. It was a nice location, upstairs and quiet. A...

We stopped at Desert Palms for three weeks in Aug Sept 2012. We had adjoining rooms which were comfortable and well maintained. Staff at the hotel were always very friendly and helpful. Coming from England they offered plenty of 'local' tips. Breakfast was good. Pool a little small. Overall we would not hesitate in stopping again and had a great holiday.

We spent 6 nights at the Desert Palms (this is the second time we have chosen to stay here).. The location is good - a 10 minute walk to the main gates of Disneyland - a shuttle is available if the walk is too much at the end of the day ($2 per person)... located next to a 7/11 which had plenty of supplies such as food/alcohol etc. Within walking distance is also plenty of dinner options (The Cheesecake Factory being our favourite!)
Onsite parking was a bonus - as we hired a car just to get around the area a bit further (shopping, universal studios, LA etc) as the shuttle service offered is quite expensive compared to car hire.
The pool was great for everyone to unwind - it was a heatwave when we were there!
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathroom exhaust was linked to the bathroom light was extremely noisy - not sure if that could be changed though.
The staff were courteous and efficient in all aspects - from front desk, room cleaners and the handyman.
The breakfast is an experience! The toast and orange juice are quite nice!
It was an affordable stay in a good location. The price matches what you would expect to receive.

Group of 10 with a 3 room reservation, We stayed 7 nights, Front desk service the moment we arrived was Awesome.... welcoming with Great smile, awesome imformation and instant service. I thank you !!!! and we will be back!!!!
Rooms are smaller, but very comfortable for family of four.... older decor, But clean and comfortable... Free WIFI, let us download our pics everyday!!! Great!!! In suite safes great value to keep your valuables safe, only $1 day. Included breakfast buffet was great!!! Make your own waffles!!!! Sit outside on roof top fresh air first thing in the morning was a great start to our day. Housekeeping staff polite and helpful.
There were a few hiccups like one of our rooms was not ready on time, So we were to be able to drop our luggage in one room that was ready. And went to go to down town disney and have lunch but when we arrived back 1 hour pass check in room 2 was still not prepared, the family was stressed a little because they were tired from thier long travel. It was a little bit distressing on the family that was waiting over a extra hour.. The Staff made sure we were comfortable and well stocked. Included breakfast buffet was great!!! Make your own waffles!!!! made our day! Housekeeping staff polite and helpful. Little draw back is the pool and whirlpool too small, we were family of 10. Hot tub comfortably, would only hold 4 smaller adults. Pool area closes a little early for us. We currantly stayed at disney properties were they keep pools open later for guests who were held back at the parks could take a evening dip or Whirlpool to relax mussels.
But overall Thank you we will see you again.

We stayed in this hotel for 6 days for our disney vacation. We found this hotel to be great! Since this was our second trip to disney, we had high expectations considering the last hotel we stayed in was a total dissapointment. We had the 2 room suite with 2 bathrooms and 4 queen beds. This room had SO much space! With our family of 5 (one teen and one pre-teen) this room worked perfectly. Having 2 full size bathrooms was definitely a plus. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job daily. The included breakfast was good- kids really liked what was offered, and there was plenty of room to sit in the dining area. Sandbox bar and grill was also good. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again.

Our stay was over the weekend of 09-29-12 to 10-01-12. The staff friendly and helpful, Jenny the desk clerk, went out of her way to make sure all of our needs were taken care of, very mindful to my family. Pointed out places to eat, bus routes, shuttle information, just a top shelve stay. The hotel is very clean and neat. The staff is always making the place tidy and with all the families that were at the hotel this is a tall order to fill, but they did so in a timely manner. Public or open bathrooms were always clean. The rooms have plenty of space, the TV were new and upgraded to watch a DVD or play stations. The breakfest was great, nothing to turn away from, fresh hot and best of all included in the price of the stay. Our room was by the pool and we did not notice any noise. For the price you get a five star stay for a three star price, just awesome people all around. If you pass up on this hotel you are truly making a mistake. You're less than 10 min.'s away from Disneyland, and that's walking. Henry Salazar from Phoenix, Az. I stayed in Room 129

Room Tip: Any room there is a good room. The beds were like new, clean and had no problems. Rooms have microwa...

OK, so the title can apply to a myriads of hotels along Katella Avenue but this is my first time to Anaheim so for what it's worth, I found the Desert Palms hotel to be well located (7 minutes walk to Disneyland/California Adventure Park; and a few minutes' walk to food outlets).

The room I had was a 2 bedroom suite, 1 queen and 1 set of bunkbed which suited my requirements perfectly.

It's clean but the walls are a little thin so you can hear people coming and going in the corridors. However, this is common in many hotels so it didn't bother me too much.

Breakfast is standard fare and is self service in the dining room - self cook waffles and toast along with cereals and a couple of hot dishes.

Lots of children in the hotel but I guess that's its designed for this as we are near Disneyland after all.

Overall a pleasant stay.
