“Awesome hotel, 1.5mile walk to Disney”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2007

This Doubletree was gorgeous. Our room was clean and well-decorated, the bed very comfortable (a must when visiting Disney!) and the cookies at check-in, as always, were delicious. The only drawback is that disney is about a mile and a half walk. So if you're going to Disney, make sure to pack a backpack so you don't have to go back to the hotel during the day.

  • Liked — VERY comfortable, gorgeous hotel
  • Disliked — A little bit of a walk to Disney. I'd stay closer or take a cab next time.

A two night stay at the Doubletree over the Easter weekend (Sun/Mon) was very relaxing. The hotel lived up to all the reviews posted. The following comments are observations during our stay, but it was overall, very enjoyable.

Check in: Easy and efficient (no warm cookies but were given rainchecks which we redeemed half an hour later). The front desk staff/concierge were very helpful with any requests.

Room: Cozy two rooms plus separated bath. The sofa pulled out and was pretty comfortable. The queen beds in the bedroom were much better. Loved the quilt and the abundant fluffy pillows. Big lag in switching channels using the remote on the large LG TV.

Maid service: We arrived back at 3:00 pm, hoping to relax in our room. We noticed the cleaning service was still down the hall, and noticed that our room still hadn't been cleaned. The maid knocked on our room shortly after we settled in. We opted to go to the business center and check email until she was done.

Bathroom: Half-size tub with the water-saving trickle shower head. I prefer full-on water pressure for showering. The low-flow toilets are a concern for those with small children who love toilet paper (it clogged up on us...) The sink and counter were too high for our 7-year old (couldn't reach the faucet). Neutrogena products were nice, including a foam face cleanser and face lotion with SPF. The shampoo bottles were smaller than average, so we needed more the next day. Hair dryer was okay (kinda slow), but at least it was not glued to the wall.

Pool: Great for the kids, clean and well kept on second floor of the hotel. It's not a huge pool, though. Hot tub was busy. The pool towels were depleted late in the day, but immediately after asking at the concierge desk, the supply was repleted.

Fitness Room: Several walking machines, weights and a plasma tv

Arcade Room: Dual racing consoles and one Pac Man/Galaga unit. This is billed as a wide selection in the brochure. The room is a small closet near the pool area.

Restaurants: Did not eat at Agio, but did try the cafe. Coffee was good, but the service was off that morning. It took forever to get a couple of lattes (with several interruptions to their creation) while we waited.

Other: There is a Disneyland booking center in the hotel, so if you didn't plan ahead, you can purchase tickets. Internet access in the business center was good; wireless available in the lobby.

Parking: $11/day (same as Disneyland)

ART - Anaheim Resort Transit. $3/day for those 10 and older (free 9 and under). The ART stops in front of the hotel (extremely small sign) and across the street (really big shelter). ART "D" Route is the one you want for Disneyland and back. You can buy the ART passes at the front desk and charge it to your room! You CAN also walk to the park (a brisk 15 minutes).

Nearby eateries: Denny's, Baker's Square (like a Denny's), Carl's Jr., Taco Bell. Further south: Buca di Beppo (Italian), Joe's Crab Shack. North of hotel: IHOP, Subway on the NE corner of Katella and S. Harbor Dr.), Tony Roma's (across from Disneyland). The Block at Orange mall is not very far (driving) and has more options, as does the Westfield Shoppingtown.

  • Liked — Clean new hotel with great front desk service
  • Disliked — Low flow toilets and late afternoon housekeeping

Wonderful, the staff was very attentive, we had saved for our adventure to Disneyland for over 6 months, and booked this hotel online and never felt more lucky. The rooms were huge, the beds were nicely displayed and the kids enjoyed the option of watching tv in the living area while we had the comfort of watching in the room. We definetly will be returning to this place.

We stayed at the Doubletree from 3/25/07-3/30/07 for a total of 5 nights. It was a spring break trip to Disneyland with our two young girls.

The Doubletree is a wonderful hotel that was very comfortable. The lobby was open and inviting. The front desk staff and bell staff were all extremely polite, friendly and welcoming. I had never stayed at a Doubletree before but had heard about the delicious chocolate chip cookies upon check-in. The rumors are absolutely correct! The cookies were warm and absolutely sinful. Everytime I passed through the lobby I kept thinking of asking the front desk staff for another cookie!

The room itself was very clean and comfortable. We had a 1 bedrrom suite. It was not extremely spacious, but it was comfortable. Housekeeping was very nice as I left a note for an extra shampoo and conditioner and when I returned found FIVE extra shampoos and conditioners! Obviously they to try to go above and beyond.

I was able to squeeze in one workout in their fitness room and was pleasantly surprised! The room had two treadmills, an elliptical machine, a recumbent bike, and four machines to lift weights with. It also had a large plasma or LCD TV to watch. All the machines looked new and looked barely used!

Before our daily Disney adventure we were able to start our day with a solid breakfast in their restaurant Agio. The food quality was average but they did manage to have a decent variety.

All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return. We would also recommend this hotel to others.

  • Liked — Room layout was convenient and comfortable.
  • Disliked — Food at Agio could have been improved.

We stayed at the Doubletree March 18th - March 24th. There were 6 of us, all adults with the exception of a 5 year old. We had a two queen suite, that consisted of a bedroom with two queens and a living area with a pull out couch bed. The bedroom had a nice sized safe that would easily accomodate a laptop plus other stuff. Both rooms had tvs, phones, etc. The living area had a fridge, micro, and plenty of shelving to put food that you have brought yourself. There were doors on the outside of all this so you don't have to look at it. The bathroom sink was separate from the bathtub and toilet, which made it easier for all of us getting ready. We did end up getting a rollaway bed for a charge of $25 for the entire time. There was plenty of room in this room for all of us, and we are not little people. I would definately stay there again. Yes, the beds were incredible, even the pull out was nice. The pool/hottub were clean and inviting. And yes, the choc chip cookies were soooo good, that we bought more. Since, there were so many of us, we opted to take a cab back and forth to disneyland (10 a trip) very quick and very painless! Would recommend. Staff at checkin were addressing us by name before the week was over. I can't wait to go back!!!

Just returned back from a fun few days in Southern California. While I can't compare any other hotels in the area, I can't imagine one being a better value than the Doubletree.

The room itself was perfect for our family - two teenagers who are long past the 'sleeping in the same bed' thing. The suite had a separate bedroom w/ two queen beds and a living room (pretty small) with a pull out couch, that Mom and I slept on. For a pull out, it was very comfy and the kids slept like rocks. For about $150/night, it was a great deal.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Disneyland, with an ABC store and 7-11 along the way to buy your bottled water ($3+ at Disneyland for a tiny bottle).

The only meal we ate onsite was breakfast the first day, and 80 bucks later for a mediocre meal, we decided Denny's or iHop (across the street) was the way to go for breakfast. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant....the little coffee spot was nice, good, fresh food.

The only negative experience was with the 'upselling' concierge. Instead of a shuttle, he talked us...okay me...into a towncar vs. the shuttle "Only $30 more". Turned out it was $35 more, plus tip, but more comfy than a van, and we were beat, so a little luxury wasn't too bad. I was a little surprised by the upsell....

All in all, if you're going to Disney w/ teens, 3 days is PLENTY, and the Doubletree is the place to go.

We just returned from a Saturday thru Monday visit to Disneyland. We wanted to stay at one of the resort hotels but the price and availability make that near impossible. The Doubletree is a nice alternative as a slightly more upscale hotel than some in the area.

We reserved a King room but upgraded to a King Suite upon check-in. It had a nice sized living room and kitchen (fridge, microwave and coffee maker) area. Very comfortable bed and flat screen TVs in both rooms. The room, halls and lobby were all very clean and the staff was extremely nice and helpful.

The Doubletree is about 2 blocks south of Disneyland on Harbor Blvd. Someone in good shape could walk it, but we opted for the ART shuttle which stopped right across the street and was very convenient.

The only negative comment would be the lack of covered parking, our car got pretty dirty due to a brush fire nearby. We did not use the pool or dine in any of the restaurants at the hotel.
