“Will definitely be back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

I just loved this hotel, was perfect for our family.Quiet, close to Disneyland, shopping, was a true home away from home. The staff was very helpful especially Lorrisa, I will be back. I loved having a kitchen, to not be forced to eat restaurant every meal was a relief. We were close enough to Disneyland that we came to the room for lunch, rest, shower and went back, saved hundreds of dollars on that alone. I cant say enough good things about this place. Nice people in the area, everyone was nice and helpful. Grocery store right across the street. I saw no crime, and no questionable people in the area. I think i heard police sirens once the entire time we were there, thats better than were I live now.

Room Tip: We stayed in the back so we over looked the parking lot, was quiet, i heard a car alarm go off once...

Another trip to California, another stay at the Pepper Tree.

This time, we're here specifically to go to Disneyland and to DCA. As always, when we're in Anaheim, we stay here.

Since we made our reservations later than is customary, we wound up with a smaller room than usual. And that was fine.

Rather than the usual table near the kitchenette, there was a day bed. This was much better for our needs. We could put all the stuff we brought, plus the shopping results on the day bed. Also made it a lot easier to get everything packed up and ready to go.

This room doesn't have the standard room air conditioner in it. Rather, it has the 21st Century version of the old swamp coolers we had in the Midwest. The thing is a bit noisy, and most people in the delicate 21st Century aren't gonna like it. It would mean they would have to adjust, instead of having something handed to them on a platter. The noise didn't bother us. We grew up with swamp coolers, and we were tired.

The bed was nice and firm, and the pillows are the perfect thickness for us. Some folks would call them too thin, or not fluffy enough. They would be quite wrong.

The $5 per device wi-fi charge is still there, which didn't surprise me at all. I have wondered about this charge, and think I know why they have it. Wi-fi generally isn't all that cheap, and this is one of 2 hotels in the "chain". They don't have the volume of scale that Holiday Inn, BW, or any of the others have to defray the costs of the wi-fi.

The $5 is more than offset by the low room rates. Our room this time has a very large central area that is divided into a sleeping area and a sitting area. A new wrinkle is the flat screen tv. Last time we were here there wasn't a tv to be found. If the table had been in this room, there would have been a dining area. But, we're on vacation. No cooking, so we didn't need it. The day bed was much handier. There is the kitchenette. In a separate part of the room, there is a dressing area, with a double closet. And finally the bathroom. It is a bit cramped, but not bad.

Room rate was $67 a night. No discounts---that's the regular rate.

I have read some whining in the TA reviews about the wi-fi signal strength. It has always been great for us. I dunno what the whiners' problem is. Maybe they're watching HD porn?

So, as usual, we are pretty happy with the hotel. And as usual, we'll stay here next time we go to the Happiest Place on Earth..

Room Tip: Can't think of one. Haven't had a bad room here yet.

I really appreciated this hotel, it was very comfortable, the layout of the hotel was charming, the rooms spacious, large refrigerators. The staff was very helpful, they printed out maps for us. Itwas clean. The only thing I did not like was the discounted breakfast at the restaurant out front was really awful. I realize it is a separate business but it was not good.

My husband and I, and a friend, stayed here in late October on our two day trip to the LA area. When we booked, I asked for the courtyard with the fountain. My friend requested a regular room. We arrived after dark, and had no trouble finding the hotel, as I had read the reviews on missing the sign, so we were "on the lookout" for it. I was impressed with the Spanish-style of the property, It almost felt like being in a Spanish mission when you were inside. I loved that decor. We were pleased with the size of our room and I loved the walled courtyard with the fountain, which gave you a private, quiet area to relax. My friend's room upstairs had a balcony so she could also enjoy sitting outside.
My only complaint was the cleaning solution used in the rooms. In our first room, the odor was so strong, I felt like I was in a nursing home. When I asked the front desk to change our room, we were graciously given a new one. Perhaps housekeeping should dilute their cleaning solutions a bit. At least we knew the room had been thoroughly cleaned!
The breakfast buffet at the restaurant in front of the hotel was more than expected for the nominal price. So much better than the usual continental breakfast at most hotels.
Although the area was not along the "tourist strip" of Anaheim, we felt very safe. The property was close to the freeways for easy access to anywhere we wanted to go.
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, even helping us map out our day in LA. If we are ever in the Anaheim area again, we will definitely stay at the Pepper Tree.

I chose Peppertree because my family members had stayed there and enjoyed it. Having the kitchen and fridge was a plus. I was near the elevator so I could hear that during the night but it really wasnt that bad, Its really close to Disneyland but far enough away from all the traffic.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter and they are a good size.

We were looking for a place to stay for 3 nights while visiting Disneyland.
Overall, the hotel is clean and adequate. We had a two queen studio room, with a mini kitchen.

We did like having the mini kitchen, which saved us money on breakfast everyday and provided a place to make snacks. The odd thing was that there was no table and chairs to eat at in the room. On the patio there was a VERY small wire table and two chairs but nothing inside the place. This was a little odd. My husband wanted to do some work but there was no table to do work on. We had made breakfast but had to eat it at the coffee table or picnic style.

There isn't free wi-fi at this hotel, but it is reasonably priced. At the time of our stay, it was $5 per device, per stay (not per day). The only problem was that the signal was weak and would drop often. There is no true lobby, so there is no place to go and sit/do work/catch a little quiet away from your room.

The enclosed patio (1st floor) was very nice. It's very private and was well maintained. Our first morning there was a sick rat on the patio, which became a dead rat within an hour. We told the front desk when we left for the day and it was gone when we returned. Our only complaint about this was that they didn't lock the sliding door when they left.

There was no beside clock. Luckily I had my phone. There wasn't a plug near the side table, but I had brought my own extension cord and was able to have my phone near me, without using up the battery through the night.

The beds were a little too firm for my taste, but ok. They didn't sag at all. The pillows were flat, but plentiful. The blankets were very thin and didn't provide much warmth. It would be nice if there were extras.

If you are staying this hotel while visiting Disneyland, keep in mind that it is NOT near the freeway. After a long day of walking and crowds it seemed like a long drive to get 'home'. It's really not very far, but with all the lights and stop and go travel, it felt like a long drive late at night. While not in a touristy part of town at all and not in the best of neighborhoods, we didn't feel unsafe. There is a Target not very far away, in case you forget anything important.

Overall, the hotel met our expectations and was OK. It was a good place for the price paid, but we probably won't be returning. It's just a little too far away for us and lacking too many things that we would like in a hotel. This is a good hotel for extended stays or visitors who will be spending more time at their hotel base.

I chose the Peppertree because of the rate and then I read the reviews. I was very satisfied with my stay of 2 nights. The employees were very friendly and the room was clean and fresh. My room was on a corner near the traffic so it was a little noisy, but I couldn't beat the price for the quality. I will definitely come back!
