I didn’t think that this place would live up to its reputation on Trip Advisor because it’s a hotel restaurant and it’s Disney owned. I thought it would lack the sophistication most steak houses are known for. Even walking up to the restaurant I had my doubts. The restaurant is hidden in the back of the Disneyland Hotel. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the rest of the Disney Resort areas, this place was a ghost town.
It turns out, Steakhouse 55 is everything that others have said it is and definitely worthy of the Trip Advisor five star rating. The décor is classic American steakhouse with a few modern flourishes. The service is outstanding and the food is delicious. The prices are reasonable, a three course prix fix for $30! The prix fix comes with a delicious Cesar salad. The petite New York is a nice size and tasty. It’s served with scrumptious mashed potatoes—no gravy needed! And for dessert, a fresh fruit tart that’s big enough to share. Although, I have to say that the fruit tart was only okay when compared with everything else which was so good. Even the bread and drinks (cocktails and wine) were terrific! My husband ordered the prime rib and a side of spinach and declared it, “the best spinach I’ve ever had!”
And let’s not forget the service-- outstanding! Our waiter, David from Glendale was polite, friendly, and attentive. We were there on a Friday night and were able to have a leisurely dinner. Oh, and when I asked where the restrooms were, David walked me to them (they’re outside the restaurant, in the hotel) so that I wouldn’t get lost. Now that’s service!
I'd recommend this place to anybody from, locals looking for a nice steak dinner to tourists who want a change from the usual Disney fare.
