We brought a group of friends in celebration of a double retirements. The anticipation of the event was very high and the concerns over disappointment was rising. We need not have worried. The atmosphere is so special and though the term 'faded gentility' or 'dated' might be used by some to a Disneyland Fanatic - this is a historic and to some hallowed grounds. If you are a Disneyland fan you have reached the Mother Ship. This is about history and being in a special club. Remember that Club 33 merchandise may only be purchased within Club 33!
Now about the service. We were at the end of the lunch hour - 2 PM. The service was uneven. Everyone leading up to the table was superb. The buffet staff were at the ready to provide information and assist. Our waiter was friendly but not as attentive as my previous experience. The gentleman that provided support actually eavesdropped on our conversation, entered his opinion and talked over one of our party. I've been to Club 33 on four occasions. This behavior was completely out of any previous experience. This was followed by staff setting up for dinner in a rather loud manner. I know we did not rush our meal, but when everyone at a party realizes they were holding up the staff - it isn't appropriate.
The lunch buffet is quite good. Offerings from the menu were good - halibut, Chateaubriand, salmon... This is not a foodies paradise, but everything we ate was appreciated by all.
Be aware that policy has changed for Club 33. Admission to the park are given to members and the number of admissions differ with the level of membership. If you are invited by a member, they may not offer admission to the park. This means you either have a pass, have someone kind enough to sign you in or you pay park admission. This is in addition to the cost of the meal. The buffet lunch and entree are an $80 minimum. This includes water as your beverage, anything else is additional. The dress code has been changed to include sandals! Check your dress code policy, because buying appropriate clothes in the park can become an adventure.
