“Not exactly sprinkled with pixie dust...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2010

We stayed in a King room with pull out bed for one night for our trip to Disneyland. I researched all these hotels/motels on Harbor for endless hours--in hopes to save some money. In the end, I found a sweet deal at the Disneyland Hotel from expedia for 3 nights, but we needed to spend one night somewhere else. We picked this hotel for it's proximity to the park. It is about as close as you can get to the entrance of Disneyland, so it has that going for it.

The problem is that this is sort of a run down motel. The rooms have their own air conditioning unit, but the units are very small (like a window unit) and very noisy when they are run. They also don't cool the room evenly. Our A/C was right next to the pull out sofa that my daughter slept on, and it blew on her all night, making her uncomfortable. And speaking of uncomfortable, the pull out bed in the sofa was hideously uncomfortable! I felt really sorry for my daughter having to sleep on it. You could feel each spring poking you all night, and it squeaked and creaked at every move.

The walls are paper thin, so the sounds are not muffled at all. There was a baby crying all night in the room next door, and a drunk couple arguing in the parking lot near our room. When someone would turn on their shower in the other rooms, the noise was very loud!

The room seemed a little unsanitary as well. There was hair in the shower (not ours) and the carpet looked really dirty. My girls were afraid to walk around and touch things in the room.

For those who have never been to Disneyland, the walk down Harbor Blvd isn't a nice one. It is a street loaded with motels, cheap fast food, bus exhaust and people who are trying to sell you time shares. It isn't like the walk towards the Disneyland Hotel or the Grand California, where you walk through Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is a car-less walkway with lots of quaint shops, trees, lights, muscians and nice scents and sights. So if your atmosphere surrounding your hotel is important to you, you don't want to stay on Harbor Blvd.

We have also stayed at Howard Johnsons, which is a much nicer hotel option on Harbor, but again you have to walk down Harbor Blvd to get there.

Check in was fast and easy. The room was clean with adequate space for the amount of people in room. Hotel staff were friendly. The children enjoyed the hotel pool and hot tub a refreshing retreat after a long day at Disneyland and to beat the hot weather at midday. After a swim and something to eat at the many restaurants in the area, we were ready to enjoy the night shows at Disneyland.

The location could not be better. You can walk back for a sleep in the afternoon and get back for the evening easily! Main Disney gate to room = less than 10 mins

The hotel is a little tired but everything worked.

The breakfast is really ordinary. The staff dont care - zero customer service and really lousy food options. Lots of people hoarding food into used pizza boxes, plastic bags, hand bags, in paper napkins any thing they can find. No-one checks your room number so perhaps these people arent even staying at the hotel or perhaps just getting cheap food for their Disney adventure. Breakfast is served in plastic bowls and plastic plates with plastic cutlery

Small pool and spa.

They charge per car for parking!

The all you can eat buffet restaurant next door (below where breakfast is served) is pretty good value too

This is right across the street from the entrance to Disneyland and restaurants are in walking distance. We had a room at the back of the hotel so our room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We didn't even hear DL fireworks so noise wasn't really a problem. The pool was nice for the kids and the hot tub was nice after a long day of Disney fun. Coin laundry area was convenient. Not happy about the continental breakfast, which is located in a restaurant next door and is just a regular continental so no hot food here. I didn't like that you have to pay for parking. The staff was friendly enough. We forgot something there and they held on to it until we could pick it up and they called us when they found our missing item, which was nice. There are a lot of hotel in this area so not sure if this is the best value for your money but it is a nice option.

Immediately upon check in we received great service. Although I had originally requested a closer room due to closer walking distance for my small children but also because of the fireworks but I didnt get it. I was given a room on the 2nd level way in the back. I had asked them again if there could be any accomodations they could make to put us closer and they DID!!! The kids liked that we were up front and they were just a couple of feet from viewing the fireworks. The price was not bad for the accomodations but given I used a AAA discount too. The only complaint is they definately need a bigger pool because the people/pool ratio was very small. This is our second time staying here and we find it hard to stay anywhere else as a family because of how truly convenient it is to Disneyland. I would recommend to stay here as a family with small children for the economy and convenience.

We were staying for the July 4th holiday in a timeshare, but couldn't get a night for the 4th of July. We planned to go to the Park on the 3rd, 4th, and 6th. This place was great for the location: right across the street to the entrance, which was wonderful for a crowded day at Disney, with a 4 & 6 year old. We were able to check in early, 9AM, even though our room obviously wasn't ready, but we could park our car. ($8 charge) We had breakfast at the IHOP, right next door, (kids eat free), and headed to the park. Came back in the afternoon for a rest and the pool. Our room was ready, 2 Queen beds, and a fold out couch. It had a refrigerator and microwave, and was quite clean. The price I paid, $113, through the Best Western web site couldn't be beat. Before heading back to the park, we walked a block down Harbor, and ate at McDonalds, which was way cheaper than eating again in the park, and that saved money for treats in the park later. Then, back across the street for the rest of the evening, consisting of rides and exceptional 4th of July fireworks. The next morning, the hotel provided a simple continental breakfast, which was fine, just to get you started in the morning. The only complaint would be the pool. It is the smallest, plainest, no frills pool on this street of hotels. Not a green plant in site, and surrounded on 3 sides by the hotel walls, and the 4th side was the parking lot. So, if the pool doesn't bother you, this place is exceptional for the price and location!

We stayed here a few years ago and since have stayed at other hotels as the sofa bed left much to be desired for my daughter. This trip, just my daughter and I were coming so we wanted to stay close to Disneyland. This hotel is literally right across from the main gate so we decided to book it after getting a good AAA rate for 2 double beds. Now this is not the Ritz, but it is a good mid-range motel (not Hotel) Rooms and bath were clean although sleep quality was not the best. Our air conditioner turned on and off. If on, it blocked out the noise; if off, we heard the housekeeping staff as well as the kids running around. Complimentary breakfast was really bad at the restaurant next store. I'm a big breakfast fan, but only went there 2 out of 5 days. Don't count on this to save money! Also, there is an $8 per night parking fee. Bottom Line: After being at Disneyland all day, it's good to walk straight to your room without waiting for a shuttle and then walking more to your room. In addition, you can easily go to your room midday for a short catnap. We'll definitely consider this motel again in the future. One more thing, the free wi-fi actually worked really well compared to other places!
