“Will stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We recently stayed here for 8 nights. The short walk to Disneyland was great for those days when we needed a rest in the afternoon. There was a shuttle bus that ran on the half hour to the parks but we only used this a few times. The continental breakfast provided was adequate. Beds were very comfortable. Lovely landscaped gardens and surrounds. We will definitely stay again (hopefully next year) but will get a 2nd level room so we don't have the 'dumbo' sound effects. I must also make a special mention about James at Reception. He was excellent - so helpful.

Thank you for staying with us and your kind comments are certainly appreciated. Yes, James is a long time Candy Cane Inn team member and is certainly an ambassador of guest service. Please feel free to contact me personally when making your reservations for next year as I would be delighted to assist. Also, always feel free to mention if you have special requests as our team do their very best to accommodate. Warm regards!

We were unsure of this hotel with the name Candycane Inn, but it was amazing. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The staff super friendly. We were towards the front and it was not as noisy as some reviews stated. The pool is very clean and my lo loved the kids pool. The jacuzzi is not hot but warm. That was the only downside i saw. The breakfast was fresh and simple. I would highly advise to stay here!

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity during your recent visit to the theme parks. Yes, the name can pose a question, however the Candy Cane Inn has been a solid and highly respected family favorite for many over the past 55 years. Kind regards!

My husband and I stayed here Sept. for an anniversary weekend getaway to Disneyland.

There were some great things about this hotel...
* Our room was ready VERY early - around 11 am. That was really nice.
* Location - can't be beat if staying off property.
* Shuttle - used it a lot and since it was very HOT during our time there, the air conditioning was very much appreciated!
* Clean - Room was very clean.
* Comfortable beds - This was great since we were only there 2 nights and sometimes it takes a night or two to get used to a hotel bed. Not here. Comfortable from the start.
* We were give an "anniversary" gift of cookies on checkout. They said they couldn't deliver it to us since we had our "Do Not Disturb". It was a nice touch, too bad we didn't get to enjoy it while staying there. It was almost like "Nice try, but too late". Guess we learned the hard way to not use the DND sign.

There were some not so great things...
* Not worth the money for the Premium Room. Yes, it was nice, but not worth it. Maybe if we had our kids with us, but having breakfast delivered gave us less selection and really, just not worth the extra we paid.
* Don't put out the "Do Not Disturb" if you want anything delivered - including the menu to order breakfast in the morning.
* Our "welcome basket" was not delivered and had to go to the office and ask about it. (again - not worth the extra money)
* Pool was small and cold. It was a nice break since it was so hot while we were there, but not as nice as other hotels.

Overall, we did have a pleasant stay, but when we return with our children in a couple years, we will spend the extra money to stay on property. There are better perks staying on property and even though this was cheaper than the property hotels, it wasn't worth it. I feel paying a little extra will give the kids more magic of Disney for not that much more than we paid.

Room Tip: Don't pay for the premium - not worth it

Thank you for staying with us and I appreciate your positive comments and very sorry regarding your feedback about the DND sign. This is a very delicate subject as I, as a manager and our team try very hard to respectful of the wishes of our guests. I personally have been screamed at by a guest (during my career and not at this hotel) when a room attendant called their room to ask when they would like service when a DND sign was present and the phone woke their sleeping baby. I appreciate your comments and I hope that you can understand that this subject can be tough. Kind regards!

Great place to stay. It is a short walk to DIsneyland. They also have nice air conditioned shuttle busses to DIsneyland. Very good price. Good selection of foods for continental breakfast. Rooms are older but very clean and comfortable. Good size rooms. There were 4 adults and we had plenty of room. Nicely landscaped.

Room Tip: The farther back off the street is better to avoid the traffic noise.

My stay at this hotel was very comfortable. There are a lot of families but being so close to Disneyland the kids are excited and happy so its pleasant. Every request was met, even my tricky one about travelling from Universal Studios to the airport, and with ease. No dramas to every request and the staff are so welcoming. Initially a premier room was booked. for my first night then I had to change rooms for the remaining two nights. Both rooms were great, the deluxe rooms have more room and you get a few extras like more bath products, DVD rental, popcorn and breakfast delivered. Otherwise it's breakfast by the pool, which you can take back to the room. So do book as soon as you can, the hotel was even busy 2nd to the 5th October, and booked solid. They are very accommodating with parking for guests too, allowing you to park before check-in and after to go to Disneyland. You'll want to stay more days so make sure you book enough nights.

It's so close to Disneyland and the shuttle convenient, although weird it doesn't run after the 9:15 colour magic show, last shuttle is 9:45. This doesn't allow enough time to get a lift back to the hotel, walking back and forth between Disneyland and the Inn can get tiresome, so it would've been nice to be able to catch the shuttle after the show. That being my only complaint this place deserves its rating. Well done Candy Cane Inn. Thanks for a pleasant stay.

First, you must get over the fact that it is ranked here as the #2 hotel in Anaheim--there's nothing fancy about this place. Second, enjoy what the place has to offer. THEN you will understand why it rates so well.

Stayed for two nights over the weekend, to attend different events at the Disney parks, with my husband, two small children (1 and 5 years old), and sister. We shared one room. The room was clean and cool, with no unusual odors or musty smell that one might associate with high-traffic hotels. The hotel provided a pack-and-play for the littlest one, which did not have a very comfortable pad. But it was clean, and we brought our own blankets for her, anyway. The beds were comfortable, and the linens clean. The towels were a bit thin and worn, but adequate. There was free wireless internet in the room. And a mini-fridge that worked well.

The hotel was at 100% capacity, but we were still able to park two cars (had to ask for a second parking pass) without trouble the entire weekend. But be forewarned, if you have a larger car or SUV, some of the spaces are very tight.

Free breakfast was good and plentiful. The breads and fruit were fresh. The coffee and juice left something to be desired...but remember its free. They start tearing breakfast down at 9 am; its fully gone by 9:30 am. The free shuttle to Disneyland and back runs like clockwork, leaving the hotel every :30 and :00, and picks up at Disneyland at :15 and :45. Or you can just walk to Disneyland. I've seen others say its about 10 minutes, but didn't try it ourselves. Its about 3 blocks to the main entrance.

The kids loved the pools (kiddie pool at 1.5ft; jacuzzi and regular pool). Lots of pool towels always on hand. I felt bad for one gentleman trying to enjoy the jacuzzi one morning, however. The place was overrun with kids...and I can't imagine he got any peace from his dip.

Based on our experience, I can't imagine this place being good for anyone BUT families. But the location still offers many perks that would be useful to anyone who needs to be in the area.

We booked this hotel on a recommendation from a friend and were so glad that we did. It has a shuttle to Disneyland but it is a very short walk, we found. The rooms were comfy, the bathroom area was nice and big and the service was very friendly.

We actually stayed here in June, 2010, but that wasn't an option on the drop down below.
