This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Disneyland, so it has a great location. The actual hotel is more like a motel with separate buildings, a couple of small pools and a fitness centre.

The rooms are average, the style is supposed to be traditional, but looks a bit dated.

Parking is outside of the building you stay in, and is $10 per day.

I've eaten once at the Tangerine restaurant at the hotel, and it took about 1.5 hours to get a wrap, so I didn't eat there this time. We had dinner at the Anaheim White House which was excellent.

Thank you so much for writing a review of our hotel, we appreciate all the feedback, negative or positive. Were glad to hear you were happy with our location to the theme parks however we were a little dissapointed about how long it took you to get your food from your last stay. We promise, if you give our Tangerine restaurant another chance, we will not let you down. Again, thank you for staying with us. We hope the rest of your vacation went very well!

We were only supposed to stay at the Anabella for one night as our flight was getting in late so we decided to just stay somewhere cheap and then carry onto the Disneyland Hotel for the rest of our 3 day trip to Disney. We had booked the Deluxe King & Double room (2 adults and 1 teenager) and found the beds very comfy and the room very spacious. We requested a quiet room and that's what we got. We were also on the first floor which seemed a lot better then the top as we had a nice little sitting area outside our room and didn' t have to deal with carrying our heavy suitcases up the stairs. When we checked out and went to the Disneyland Hotel the next day we were very disappointed that we had left the Anabella that we only paid $105/night (AAA rate) versus $250/night for the Disneyland Hotel and the room was not any nicer then the Anabella. The Anabella in fact felt a lot more "homey" and more modern. We decided to leave the Disneyland Hotel the next day and rebooked back at the Anabella for our last night and we were able to get our same room back. I have read some of the other reviews and would have to say that our experience at the Anabella was awesome and we would definitely return. The walk from the Anabella hotel was no longer then the walk from our room at the Disneyland Hotel. We also had lunch at the pool and the food was really good from the Tangerine Grill. There was only one girl working but she seemed to be doing a decent job considering she was the only one working and we didn' t have to wait very long for our food. We also found all the staff to be very courteous. If you can get a decent deal on a room at the Anabella like we did I would definitely recommend this hotel for the price.

  • Liked — King Bed and Double bed - not many hotels offer this. Usually just have King and sofa bed.
  • Disliked — No hotel shuttle service; had to walk or use public transit system.

We just got back home, spent 3 nights at the Anabella, didn't like it all. I'd rather stay at La Quinta, HOJO..than that "boutique" motel (don't know why it got 4 stars hotel in Orbitz).

We travel for pleasure quite alot, we usually stick with the chain hotel as Sheraton, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt.....This time I decided to go for "a nice, small, boutique 4 stars hotel" to see the atmostphere and that was a big mistake.

These are what I find out

1/Definitely this Anabella is not a hotel as it claim. Yes, they have fitness center, beauty salon, spa......but none of them works. They're all small, old and nobody there...I believe the hotel manager just put the name plate on those tiny room to deceive the tourist that they're a full service hotel. The "luxury spa" (as they call in Anabella website)is nothing different than a little nail, hair salon at the conner of the streets. Anabella is just a refurbished motel, nothing more, nothing less

2/ The room is OK, not spacious as in the picture. The extra suite as they call is just a big closet with no AC, the door has no lock, so it doesn't provide any privacy, esp. when I closed the door, the room was hot as an oven.

My room looked new but poor quality ( furniture, bedsheet, curtain, marble in the bathroom ). It seems to be they tried to do facelift on a short budget....

There's not enough light or electrical outlet in the room so it's not convenient at all. The walls are very thin, you can here all the noise next door, then all the rooms facing the parking lot, so you know what would happen then

There is no elevator, you either stay on the 1st floor to hear all the noise from upstair and from the people outside in the parking lot (plus the car's headlight right into your room) or carry your heavy suitecase up one flight ...

3/The biggest problem to me is the AC. They have a little AC window unit, small not strong enough to make the whole room cool off quick
When I checked in the room, the AC was broken. Called the FD 3 times, no one answer, my husband had to get the maid next door, she checked and called the FD another couples times, called mainternance, finally the technician came and fixed it an hour later I paid more than $100/night, why I couldn't have the AC run all day long?? Everytimes we walked out the door, we had to take the card with us, it meant the AC was turn off right after that, came back later and had to wait for another 30 minutes for the room to be cool off. One day, we cheat by taking my card with us and left my husband's card in the AC , hopefully the AC was still on when we came back. Guest what?? It was off again. Somebody must get into our room and turn it off

We pay to stay at the hotel to be relax and enjoy our vacation, why we have to worry about the AC??? That's not right at all

3/ The TV program was poor. I can't belive they only have 1 kid TV channel: Disney. No cartoon network, no nogins, no nickjr. .....

I carry my laptop everywhere I go , even in the 3rd world country as VietNam, Dominican Republic....nowhere had a bad connection as at The Anabella. I paid $10/ day for internet so it should be connected all day long. NO, whenever I turn off the laptop the connection was gone too, so when I wanted to online again, I had to go all the procedure to get connect again, 2 times I had to call the support center and was on phone for at least 15-20 minutes to get connected. They even cut off my connection 1 hour before it was expired

4/ The Anabella is no way near by the entrance of the Disney Land, it's a far walk esp. when you have kids. That is deceiving information "just across Disney Land "

5/ Due to our flight out was late in the everning, we ask if we could stay extra hour and check out at 12pm, the answer was "pay extra $20 per hour". That was a joke, most of the time at the other hotel they would let us stay for free, in Disney World hotel (the Broadwalk village) or Las Vegas (the Wynn) the front desk clerk even told me "just stay until the maid come "

6/Short of staff: many times we called the front desk, no answer at all. My husband told me there was only 1 lady at the Tangerine bar so he had to wait too long for food, for drink One day we called housekeeper to get extra towels, they didn't bring up until an hour later

To make the long story short: Stay away from this hotel. With the same money you can find better service at HoJo, Best Western or pay a little extra to stay at the Mariott or Sheraton along Habour Blvd.
Someone might think "a nice and clean bed is good enough" but sometimes too many little ones add up and it becomes big and destroy the vacation times which is supposed to be relax and enjoy. That's what happened to us at the Anabella

We stayed at the Anabella in early August for 4 nights. Our experience was good. We booked a kids suite for our family of 4 - a king size bed with one room off that with bunk beds and another room with a single bed. It was nice not to be all crammed together in one room. The walk to Disney was fine - we cut through the Disney California Hotel which took about 10 minutes off the walk.

The pool was great when we used it first thing in the morning but much busier later in the day. Also used the small gym every morning which had a treadmill, bike, step machine and a few weights.

The breakfast was good, other food OK. Sometimes a long wait to get a drink at the bar in the afternoons - often only seemed to be one person on duty serving the bar and the pool areas.

All in all would recommend this hotel to escape the hub of Disney and would stay there again.

We stayed at the Anabella for 10 days in August 2008. It was an OK stay. The first room we were in the TV didn't work, so the maintenance guy came over and there was something electrically wrong with the room, so they moved us to another room. Later that night in our new room there was a cockroach in the bath tub. That was the only one we saw during our whole stay, so maybe it isn't a big problem I don't know.

The hotel is right across from California Adventure. But to access the park, Disneyland or Disney California Adventure you either take the Anaheim Resort Transit to the park or you can walk to downtown Disney and then stroll through to the main gates. Its not too bad a walk, but after a while it takes a toll on your feet.

The restaurant/bar there Tangerine was OK. The staff is generally good, one waitress has a real attitude problem but otherwise it was pleasant.

Its an OK hotel, but next time I would either stay on the east side of the Disney Resort, along Harbor BLVD or in the Disney hotel properties.
