“Good location, decent room, but sour taste”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

For a family of five with young children, the layout is pretty good. It is comfortable and fairly private for a relatively small space. It is unfortunate, however, that the sink, toilet, and shower are all in the same tiny space. But all in all, the hotel room itself is pretty good value. Of course, the proximity to Downtown Disney is great. Very easy walk.

The "free" breakfast is a total scam. The restaurant, Tangerine, might be the most rigid establishment we've ever been to. Any minor substitution is an upcharge. The "free" breakfast coupons were good only for very specific items. Any deviation and you pay full price - even for the cup of coffee or toast that is supposedly included in the "free" breakfast. Completely nonsensical and it's not as if the food is all that wonderful.

We complained to the manager at the front desk who blamed the server in the restaurant for "not thinking out of the box" and for trying to avoid the work of inputting changes into the computer system. The manager asked to photocopy our bill but didn't actually do anything to rectify the situation. Nor did he follow up with us in any way. We ended up paying over $70 for our "free" breakfast. The next morning we skipped the Tangerine and ate at Catal Restaurant in Downtown Disney. The food was truly phenomenal (amazing french toast and unique egg dishes), great service, lovely ambiance on the balcony overlooking the street. And ironically - Catal was cheaper than our "free" breakfast at the Anabella the day before.

Bottom line, if you stay at Anabella you are doing it for convenience, which can be worthwhile. Just don't be fooled into thinking that it is terrific value or a high class establishment.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room so you don't have to listen to people walking around above you.

Dear Flycreek81,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us regarding your stay on Trip Advisor.

We’re always willing to accept constructive criticism in effort to improve the overall experience of our guests. Please accept our apologies for not meeting your expectations with your complimentary breakfast options. We’re looking into expanding this in the near future to allow our guests more options from our Tangerine Restaurant and are trying to figure out creative ways to do so.

Should you have any more questions or concerns please reach out to me directly so I may resolve everything to your satisfaction.

Kind Regards,
Brandon Jemison

The anabella Hotel was a great place to stay if you are planning to do all the theme parks LA has to offer. I did find the room configuration a little strange - we were travelling with 2 teenaged and it had 1 rage room with a pull out sofa and another room with a large day bed - it would have been far more beneficial to have the second room as a twin room. But that aside the staff are lovely - the rooms clean and the Tangerine bar and restaurant a great place to eat and drink. It is a 10 min walk to downtown disney and Disneyland and California World and the buses that pick you up to take you on tours that you may have booked pick up from the property next door - all in all a good place to stay

Dear theDayz,

It’s great to hear that you were able to take advantage of so many of the attractions So-Cal has to offer. We do have the Disneyland parks across the street from and Knott’s Berry Farm just a fifteen minuet drive away, which makes the Anabella Hotel the ideal location for those seeking out thrills. We do have fourteen different room types which in your case our Premiere King & Double sounds like the perfect fit. It offers 1 king bed, sofa sleeper, & a double bed.

We value your comments about our staff and Tangerine bar we have here on property. We hope you had a chance to try one of the Tangerine’s Tanger-ritas! There most popular cocktail! Our very knowledgeable and experienced concierges offer a variety of tour options for those who’d like to adventure outside of the parks.

Cheers!

We stayed at this hotel during our visit to Disneyland,
Located fairly close to disneyland, the room was awesome, the service is good, but the only let down for this hotel is, there is no elevator or escalator provided!

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor! Unless you don't mind to carry your luggages up the stairs!

Greetings, Jonathan A

We do apologize for not having an elevator or escalator in all of our buildings but we will always do our best to accommodate any special requests for the first floor if needed. Thank you for your kind remarks about our location, service, & rooms. Feel free to come back and visit anytime.

We booked this hotel for conference purposes.

It was a perfect location! It gave our legs a nice stretch between sessions... was close enough to hit disneyland.. and downtown disney throughout the 5 day visit.

The staff were amazingly helpful!

The lack a onsite 'tuck shop' that was open 24 hours was disappointing... and when the small shop was open - it had few items of interest. Again, the staff was nice!

It was the first stop on the hotel drop off shuttle!! woot woot.. gotta like that when you arrive late at night!

Room Tip: I would ask for the third floor in the back... it was super quiet and could see the fireworks from D...

Dear divechka,

We are very grateful that you took the time to write a review on Trip Advisor about the Anabella Hotel. Our location has a lot of benefits as it’s very close to shops and restaurants as well as the two Disney parks. Most of our staff have been with us for years and continue to train to exceed our guest’s needs. The onsite “gift shop” is a privately owned company and we are working with them to have consistent business hours.

We look forward to your next stay here at the Anabella Hotel.

Kind Regards,
Brandon Jemison

The Anabella is a lovely hotel across the street from Disney's California Adventure. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I recommend the Concierge level rooms for the complimentary breakfast, water, slippers and robe, as well as your own private patio. The rooms are both comfortable and very functional with a separate vanity outside the washroom. Wifi is complimentary throughout the property and there is a business center just off the lobby which is great for checking in for your flight and printing boarding passes. The Disney parks are an easy 10-15 minute walk from the hotel heading north on Disneyland Drive and walking through the lobby of the Grand Californian hotel to either Downtown Disney or California Adventure. (note the direct entrance to California Adventure is only available to the general public after 11am)

Dear Adam D,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about The Anabella Hotel. Our Concierge level rooms do have those amenities, however the private patio is always our biggest request and available upon request. Our new Wi Fi is now complimentary with the option to upgrade for those that need to download and/or stream for a nominal fee.

With a walk way before the entrance of the Grand Californian that takes you into Downtown Disney & the main gates it makes the stroll to Disney quick & convenient from the Anabella. We’re pleased to here that you were able to take advantage of this.

We look forward to your next stay here at the Anabella Hotel.

Best Regards,
Brandon Jemison

The Anabella is my favorite hotel in Southern California. From the amazing staff to the beautiful property no other hotel in Anaheim can compare. Two pools, a restaurant and bar and right across the street from Disneyland, what else could you ask for? I can't wait to go back someday!

Room Tip: Concierge room is my favorite!

This little hotel is a gem! It's small and boutique, just a little charm! It is right across the road for Disneyland, so its a great place to stay if you dont want to spend a fortune on the disney hotels. We were just in the lead in room type, and this was more than big enough for the 2 of us! We had breakfast included in our stay, and this was okay.. It wasnt great, but there arent a whole lot of quality options around anyway. Slightly pricey, but you cant beat the location.
I would for sure recommend this property. Great for families and couples! :)

Season’s Greetings Clare O,

We were very fortunate to have acquired this location for our California Mission Style hotel. It sounds like your booked one of our Concierges rooms which offers breakfast for 2 each monring. The classic breakfast is one of our most popular choices, it comes with two eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and toast. With a choice of coffee or hot tea.

Clare O, we’re looking for another opportunity to have you back in the future.

Best Wishes,
Brandon Jemison
