“As close to Disney as you'll get without the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

I guess looking at some of the reviews, it has me thinking each to their own, as the reviews are very mixed.
We stayed for the last 2 nights while we were on Mission Disney.
Didn't use the bar/restaurant, only amenity we used was the pool on both evenings.
The room was fine, 2 double beds for 2 adults and 2 children which was all we needed.
As the rooms are laid out in the same style as a motel, my husband found himself awake early both mornings with the sound of cars starting up and people busy to head to Disneyland. I have discovered the joys of ear plugs so had no issue at all. Having said that, unless you are going to Disneyland or attending an event at the convention centre, then it possibly may not be the place for you.

We spend a lot of time in Anaheim for cheer competitions and family getaways to Disneyland but this was our first stay at the Anabella. I was pleasantly surprised. The property is lovely, lots of lush greenery. The pool area was cozy, even on a 60 degree evening -- lots of heaters and high-top tables. Our room had a king size bed and a double bed in its own little nook, so it was very comfortable for our family of four. Bonus points for an in-room fridge, which was cleverly housed in the dresser and which we didn't even find until our second day. There is also a nail salon right on the property -- wish I'd had time for a pedicure. We were right next to the Convention Center so the walk back and forth throughout the weekend was quick and painless. My only issues were small ones, and certainly not deal-killers: our room (2111) was tucked back into a dark little hallway at the end of the passage and there was no overhead light. Aside from feeling slightly vulnerable at night, my 40+ year old eyes could barely see to put the key card in. Also, while the food was great and the staff was very friendly at the Tangerine Cafe, service was slow at lunch on Saturday. The pulled pork sandwich with peanut cole slaw was fabulous and I would have liked to have had more time to enjoy it. None of this would prevent us from staying again -- in fact, we're returning in two weeks.

Room Tip: If you will be walking to Disney or the Convention Center during your trip ask for a room close to t...

My family and I wanted lodging so we could spend a few days at Disneyland. My wife and I arrived the night before our kids and were assigned a room that was simply awful. The bed was like sleeping on a 30 year old mattress, that had us awake at 5 in the morning with terrible back aches. We went to the front desk and advised of our problem. To their credit, they held two rooms for us to check out the beds before we were assigned another room. In addition to the miserable bed, the floors, which are not carpeted, were filthy and you could simply run your hand on the floor and it would come up with dirt and grime.

The staff said the bed we had slept in was only a year old. A year old? It is readily apparent then that no one in the hotel makes regular inspections of its own accommodations.

Although the second room was nice, most if not all the rooms face the court where all the patrons park. Hence, doors slamming, alarms chirping are all part of the ambience.

The next night our daughter, her husband two children arrived. The two grandchildren are 3 years and 1 year old. They were assigned a room on the second floor, and which no elevator to use, they had to climb a set of stairs with two youngsters and all that goes with caring for two little ones. Upon going to bed that night, they found a bug in their bed and hair in the shower and sink drains. They too called management, who apologized, but went on to make excuses for how the bugs got there. There was no explanation for the hair in the drains. For their inconvenience, the hotel knocked off the $14 per day parking fee. That is something else they tell you when you check in. $14 per day to park your car at the hotel. NO valet or parking garage, but park where you can. Where else you're supposed to park to avoid paying $14 dollars is the question they cannot answer. You drive there, you pay. It's that simple, and that much of a captive charge as well. Lastly, since our rooms were on the first floor level, the people above us in both rooms were easily heard as they pounded across their floors. While in the second room, the people above must have had a child who thought he/she was on a trampoline. We were awakened to the sound of constant thumping from above.

I can tell you that all the staff we dealt with were terrific, but it did little to make up for poor accommodations. Please realize that this is our own factual accounting for the stay we had with our kids. There are certainly others that may disagree. But if you're looking for immediate, unquestionable comfort and ease of parking, there are better places to stay, that is based on experience, not speculation.

Room Tip: If you do decide to stay, choose a room on the second floor and in the building that has an elevator...

The Anabella is only 5 minutes walking time from the convention center - making it a suitable place to stay when visiting a conference, and it is only 10 minutes walking time from down-town Disney - which makes it also suitable for staying in on vacation - yet at a much lower cost than that of other hotels around - such as the Disney hotel.
My room was clean and convinient and all amenities were modern and new. Parking was convinient and the service was also good. At one time there was a problem with the WiFi network during late night. They did their best to help, and the morning after - an apology letter waited at my room.
The gym has too few instruments and I had to wait in line.
There's only one restaurant and I found it a bit too pricy for the simple selections it offers.

Room Tip: The place is very large - better ask for a place closer to lobby. Also - no elevator to 2nd floor.

Dear Gil T,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience on Trip Advisor. Our location is great as it is right in the heart of Anaheim, between Disneyland and the convention center!

We are currently in the process of updating our Internet service so thank you so much for the understanding.

We hope to have you back soon!

We stayed in one of the suites which has two rooms, great value for money. Convenient to the park and the room was very clean. The pool and restaurant were lovely and overall I would rate the hotel as really very good value for money. Staff courteous and room was exactly as described.

Room Tip: if you've got kids the suites are a great idea as there is a separate room with a bed and TV for...

Just read some of the reviews. The major problem was the parking. Solution: I complained to the front desk and the manager because I couldn't find a parking spot except hanicapped. The manager told me to go ahead and park there until one opened up. He also took off the parking fee which was nice and appropriate. The room was the king, sofa, and small room with a full which suited our needs since we had two grandkids with us. The hotel is average but I'd try for something different the next time.

Dear Richard F,

Thank you for staying with us at the Anabella Hotel & Resort. We were pleased to read that you found the overall location and service to be very good. Although the value, sleep quality, rooms, and cleanliness were satisfactory this leaves us with room to improve. There are certain circumstances that require us to problem solve and it is nice to hear that one of our managers was able to come up with a solution for your parking dilemma.

With 14 different room types the perfect layout is here at the Anabella Hotel & Resort. Anyone of our dedicated Guest Service Team would be happy to go through specifics in great detail. Please let us know what can be done to earn you loyalty and we do our best to do so.

Kind Regards,
Brandon Jemison

Stayed at the Anabella again after about a decade long hiatus. Wow what a nice place. Such a great deal when you can catch a deal there! And they do have them, you just have to watch and wait. Beautiful grounds, they really put alot of tlc into this property. We were able to book the Casita suite that has a small bedroom with a really cozy twin an flat screen for our teen!, for only 72 bucks! Although there is a 14 dollar parking fee(Boo) So factor that in. In my opinion the hotel should always factor that in! A little bit of a walk and no micro . But worth the walk when you can find it for a deal. Again it is a beautiful property....
